Guest drobinson Posted July 29, 2005 After inputting my scoring system, the value does not seem to correlate with pts scored. For example, Payton Manning is projected to score the most points (463-value 140.1) but is ranked 27th on the overall list behind guys like W. Dunn (268pts-value 145.6). How can this be? I know running backs are rated higher than qb's in most leagues, but this seems a little out of wack. Anybody have any thoughts or knowledge in this area Thx, Dan Robinson
Mike MacGregor 20 Posted July 29, 2005 Hi Dan. Someone else just asked me a similar question yesterday, and here was my response: The overall rankings are by “value” rather than FF points. The concept it is using implies that you are better off getting a, in your example, lower scoring RB first and QB later, than Peyton Manning #2 overall and settling for a weaker RB later on. The FF points are not the only thing that drives the value calculation, but also the difference in points between players at the same position (how much better or worse each player is to his peers) and the number of required starters and backups at each position you have in your leagues. Typically RB are more valuable because they score well, and most leagues start 2 whereas QB, even if they score higher, most leagues only start 1. For more info on this concept please refer to the section Overall Ranking Methods found in the help guide scrolling down this page: http://www.fftoday.com/compiler/hg_compiler_adv.htm Now, I am a little surprised Peyton Manning is ranked so low for your particular league, and Warrick Dunn is so high. RB must really be highly valued and QB lower valued. What are you league settings (teams, starters, backups, scoring)?
Guest drobinson Posted July 29, 2005 QB's are of very high value in my league....at least I always thought so and I have been playing in this league since 1985. We play 2qb's, 3rb's, 3wr's, 1 flex (rb,wr), 1 team d, 1 kicker, 1 coach...TE's and WR's are the same. We have large bonus's for length of touchdown....1-10 yd run or pass 7pts..50yrd run = 25...pass = 20, etc. I cannot see how a QB that scores almost 500 pts in my league could be worth less than running backs who score around 250. Thanks for the help.
Mike MacGregor 20 Posted July 29, 2005 Well, you do start a lot of RB too - as many as 4 with the flex. How many teams in the league?
mcocozza 0 Posted July 29, 2005 Yeah, if its a 10 team league, you are going to have guys starting REALLY worthless RBs. QB's would be a dime a dozen in comparison
Guest drobinson Posted July 31, 2005 9 teams in my league
