    Commissioner's Behavior

@ Chronic & Filthy: Setting the Stage: In the standard Yahoo settings, every player is "locked" once their game begins, be it Thursday, Sunday or Monday. They remain "locked" until the waiver claims are processed the following Tuesday night, so as to give every league member a shot at acquiring them (rather than just the "active" owner who watches non-stop). After the waiver process takes place, everybody left is a free agent. If you acquire a waiver claim or pick up a free agent during the week, and then drop them for a different player, they again enter "Waiver Status" rather than immediate free agency; in our league, the "waiver status" is again two days, so as to allow any owner the opportunity to acquire them. Does it allow for azzhatery? Certainly, and it goes on every week all year long! Somebody willing to burn their waiver priority will take a player to keep somebody else from getting them, only to turn around and drop them on Sunday morning for a bye week kicker! It adds another dimension of strategy to the game... The OP got screwed by a commish who over-rode the system and manually moved a "frozen" player onto another teams roster. It simply can't happen and the commish is a cheater...

When is Schwartz going to lose his job

Detroit under Schwartz is definitely an enigma; so much perceived talent with baffling results. Having said that, the NFC North is still very much up for grabs; assuming Rodgers doesn't play again this week, it's possible the Packers could lose at home to the Steelers and I expect the Bears to lose at Philadelphia. Lions win (coupled with Packer and Bear loses) and they're back to controlling their destiny (with the tiebreaker over the Bears). In conclusion, I agree with you that Schwartz has done a disappointing job, but it's two weeks too early to ring the death knell...

Waiver Wire Add of the Year?

I play in a fourteen-team league with 15 draft rounds, so many of the guys discussed prominently in this thread never hit the waiver wire at any point this season (Moreno, Jeffrey, Gordon, etc.). The three biggest WW scoops in our league were: Nick Foles (1st Place team carried P. Manning, J. Cutler & Foles - what a waste, but it kept Foles away from others!) Zac Stacy (Darryl Richardson & Isaiah Pead both drafted) Keenan Allen (I fell for the preseason Vincent Brown hype)

    Week 15 Fock You thread

Fock Dr. Patrick McKenzie, the Packers team physician who won't give medical clearance to Aaron Rodgers. I obviously wanted ARod and his desirable matchup versus the pathetic Cowboy pass D, but I'm more upset as a Packer fan - kiss the playoffs good-bye with noodle-arm Matt Flynn behind center. From what I've read, they didn't even do another scan this week and Rodgers wanted it badly...

Argument in league. Looking for opinions

You keep coming back to (paraphrase), "my actions didn't change any outcomes", which shows that you really don't "get it"! In a league with a $1000 pot, you did what you could to keep the second leading scorer out of the playoffs. Everything else is really superfluous - YOU ruined the integrity of the league with your actions. The one guy who didn't accept your apology decided to one-up you and deal the "death-blow" to what little integrity remains by making all his players free agents. Frankly, I find that hilarious; it's even funnier that you're on here looking for support of your actions and reactions. This is 100% your fault and if the league doesn't dissolve (I wouldn't play with you!), you should definitely step down as commish...

Perfect storm for a Rodgers return?

This is frustrating considering he has a "dream matchup". On one hand, this morning's Journal-Sentinal article says he practiced yesterday without pain, was throwing the ball with "steam" and took some first-team reps (per Andrew Quarless). On the other hand, Coach McLardy keeps talking about obtaining medical clearance from team physician Patrick McKenzie, meaning they want a "scan that shows significant healing". Rodgers did delay his weekly meeting with reporters to Thursday; I'm hoping that means they wanted to see how he felt the day after a heavy workload and there's a chance he'll suit up on Sunday. I think we should know one way or the other by Thursday afternoon. This life-long Packer fan who'll be forced to play Fitzpatrick in his fantasy semi-final if Rodgers can't go, is definitely keeping his fingers crossed!!!

What do you need Monday night? - playoff addition

I need 33 points combined from Josh McCown and Alshon Jeffrey, which is certainly doable in our QB friendly league, assuming McCown has his "average" night and Jeffrey catches a TD pass to go along with 4 for 60. There's just no way Alshon has two big games in a row; I forsee a big night from Brandon Marshall since he got "ignored" last week.... If I lose, I'll have nobody to blame but me since I was the tool who started L. Green in place of A. Gates; I knew better than to be greedy....
  8. A number of people have given you entirely valid reasons why the waiver wire should stay open to everybody, even those who have been eliminated from championship contention. My main league, a group of friends from my hometown, was established in 1990; it has fourteen teams and we split our significant pot two ways - 60% goes to "Points Accumulated - Season" and 40% to the "playoff participants" (8 teams qualify). In short, we pay six places for top scorers AND anybody reaching the semi-finals of the playoffs gets a payout. Our platform continues to calculate scoring for everybody (including playoff non-qualifiers) through the end of the playoffs (= NFL Regular Season). You might think the top scorers would all be represented in the eight playoff teams, but considering fantasy football is at least 50% LUCK, that'd be incorrect. THREE of the TOP SIX scoring teams in our league did not qualify for the playoffs. Obviously they're still making waiver wire moves, since there's pride and money at stake! With a 24 year league history, we keep track of championships won, points scored - all time, etc. It's a big deal to us...
  9. RZH - Your first sentence says you want opinions on a situation that's playing out in your league. Many people have shared their opinion and the response is overwhelmingly in support of every team continuing to play hard until the bitter end, using all resources available to them. Only a small percentage of responders have supported your position, namely those teams eliminated from playoff contention be banned from making further transactions. You have your answer, even if you don't like it - the four-win last place team in your league did well to pick up Julien Edelman for his consolation game this week.

    FU Week 12 edition

Another vote for Case Keenum! Woe is me! Aaron Rodgers is my QB - I was in the stands at Lambeau when he went down in the first series versus the Bears. Being a Packer fan and an Iowa State alum, I pick up Seneca Wallace - goes down in the first series of the game. I pick up Case Keenum; he gets benched in the third Q - afterwards Kubiak "says he made a mistake". I stay with Case Keenum because he's playing the Jags - we all know what happened! I play in a league where TD passes are worth six points and passing yardage is one point for every 25 yards. There were weeks where Rodgers got me 20 fantasy points in a half; I haven't gotten 20 total points from the QB position in the past four weeks... F... me; there were six QB's on the waiver wire, any one of which would've been just fine - I couldn't have done it any worse than I did...

    Now I'm getting worried

I (along with a couple others) held the opposing view (to yours) regarding Burleson in another thread; I see we carried the day with our arguments! Now I'm going to pull a 180 and tell you to ignore everything we said in the other thread, starting Calvin Johnson without hesitation. With options like yours (Keenan and Josh Gordon), I wouldn't double up on Lion receivers either. JMHO - Dance with the one who brought you (Calvin) and spread the risk (Josh Gordon)...

    Alshon Jeffrey - WR Rankings

They're like crack; I can't help but look at them every week! Which is why I finally made this post. I read the rankings, shake my head and insert Alshon into my WR2 slot. I see the Bears frequently so I know he's getting targets, including red zone opportunities, along with occasional rushing attempts. He's been a godsend to my injury-ravaged team and I wondered if anybody else was as big a fan as me (and I'm a lifelong Packer guy)!

    Anyone signing Burelson this week?

Did Ike Taylor, Patrick Peterson, Leon Hall or Peanut Tillman get traded to the Bucs this week while I was working? If not, I fail to see what they have to do with Revis versus Calvin or three straight slot receivers having nice games versus Tampa Bay. CJ will definitely get his numbers, but I believe there's enough to go around for Burleson to shine this week. Looking forward to Thanksgiving, the Packers defensive backfield is in a shambles, with a rookie slot corner (Micah Hyde) suffering hamstring issues. Call me crazy, but I think Nate's in line for two big stat lines in five days! Disclaimer: I'm a Packer fan so I want the Lions to do poorly; also, I don't really "need" Burleson to do well - I just think he's going to and is definitely worth a waiver wire pickup. I LOVE #2 WR's on high-powered passing offenses that are battling for playoff position and have inserted them successfully into my lineups for years. Nate has fresh legs and no bumps or bruises...

    Alshon Jeffrey - WR Rankings

Just curious as to why Alshon Jeffrey is ranked so low on the WR board every week? Our league awards 1/2 point per reception and he's the #13 WR for the season, which isn't too shabby for a tenth round draft pick (14-Team Redraft). My team has been crushed by injuries and is struggling to stay afloat; if it weren't for the "Shon's" (Alshon and Knowshon), I'd be dead-team walking! Anybody else benefitting greatly from Alshon and curious as to why he's ranked so low every week on this board?

    Anyone signing Burelson this week?

A big HELL YES to this question, especially this week! Mega is probably immune to Revis, but will be at least slowed, meaning Stafford will have to throw somewhere. Some no-name Dolphin slot receiver torched the Bucs for 2 TD's and a hundred two weeks ago; another mediocre slot got them for a nice day last Sunday. This week's winner in the Buc slot receiver sweepstakes = Nate Burleson. Disclaimer: I have A.J. Green & Giovanni Bernard on bye, so I need Nate to come up big for me; I've been sitting on him for a couple weeks (14 team league leaves little waiver wire fodder) hoping he'd be ready to go in week 12...
