No, we haven’t seen higher prices yet. If Trump carries through on his plan and we see lower costs and a new US manufacturing boom I’ll be thrilled, I’m just not banking on it. My guess is Trump eliminates most of the tariffs before midterms and claims Great Success. I didn’t watch a ton of Trump speeches but I do remember a lot of biiching about inflation and a promise to lower prices. I must have missed the talk about short term pain if he gets elected.

And then the next POTUS toes the tariffs off, and whatever businesses brought manufacturing back home ships it overseas again? My guess is this trade war ends before the midterms. People who voted for lower costs aren’t going to be thrilled with higher costs imo.

The problem is Trump campaigned in large part on lowering costs and it assumes every future POTUS maintains his tariff policy. By the time a lot of that manufacturing comes online he won’t be in office.

I think a reasonable compromise would be to blow the play dead sooner. Part of the reason it’s so effective is that Hurts is sandwiched between the pusher and linemen and therefore upright.
