  1. I did not realize that Favre has 22 INTs less than the current record holder, George Blanda. And Blanda had 42 INTs in 1962. Of course, Blanda only had 10 seasons with more than 100 passing attempts.

  2. >You start 2 RB, 2 WR and 1 TE along with a FLEX position which can be a RB, or Wr or TE? Is that correct >and are there other ways you guys use it?

    That's how it works.

    >Also, we have 1 spot on the roster for Injured Reserve and were thinking about moving that to 2 IR spots. >How many, if any, IR spots do you guys use?

None. Are you a keeper league? If not, why would you need IR spots? Is IR anyone who's hurt?

    >Im not sure where to start with this, but right now on the table we are looking at awarding 1 or 2 bonus pts >for passing TD's of 35+ yds and run/rec. TD's of 25+ yards. Let me know what you guys use for this so I >can adjust accordingly.

I don't know, it sounds alright. Bonus pts don't really change the socring much.

  3. Vick is not a good real life QB, no doubt. However, that doesn't mean he can't be a servicable fantasy football QB (like Aaron Brooks in his prime). Case in point: The FFToday projections have him 12th overall among QBs, and his passing numbers suck. But nearly 700 rushing yards and 5 rushing TDs make up for that. ADP has him about right, as the 13th overall QB. So I would say he's rated just right.

  4. Dude, you shouldn't have posted the draft results. I hope for your sake they're fake. Because otherwise you're in an 8-team league full of idiots and your team still sucks.

    So what, your team is:

QB: Carson Palmer, Eli Manning, Trent Green

RB: Clinton Portis, Kevin Jones, Willie Parker, Cedric Benson

WR: Steve Smith, Terrell Owens, Joe Horn

    TE: Randy McMichael

    DEF: Indianapolis

    K: Jeff Wilkins

One guy forgot to take a kicker. Some people took 3 QBs. 2 guys even took IDP players. Horrible.

  5. You can't game plan scared. You've got to put your best players in the position to make plays. He was obviously one of the best kick coverage guys, so they were playing him there. Just a freak accident.

And I was right, Winslow got hurt in the second game of his rookie year while the Browns were trying to recover an onside kick. The coach should never have put him on the onside kick team, right? In fact, why don't we surround all first round picks with bubble-wrap so they never get hurt?

  6. Yeah relaxed requirements are always better. The best and most realistic, in my opinion, would be to allow a total of 5 backs (which can be RB/WR/TE), with a maximum of 2 RBs. You can do 2/2/1, 2/3/0, 1/4/0 (run and shoot, baby!), 0/5/0 (empty backfield). Obviously 2/3/0 is probably the best, but let people start whatever they want.

  7. To what? The #3 pick? In nearly 100 mocks at antsports, he hasn't been picked below #5 in any of them. In 338 drafts at myfantasyleague, he still averages the #2 overall pick. I don't know where this slipping is happening.

  8. Ah, you're playing in a Sportsline league I see. I'd recognize the way they list the scoring anywhere. :D

You can do these pretty simple because 400+ passing, 150+ rushing, and 150+ receving are so rare that they're not worth thinking about.

    PASSING YARDS

Only one QB had a 400+ yard passing game last year (Marc Bulger against the Giants). Some QB could go over 400 yards this year, but who will it be? Since it's not something that we can predict very well, you might as well ignore it, especially since it barely effects your scoring.

So that means you can do it as 1 pt every 25 yards, with a 2 pt bonus at 300.

    RUSHING YARDS

Now the rushing bonuses are a little more common, but still not enough. There were 25 games in which players had over 150 rushing yards last year, and only 5 of those had more than 200 yards. Tiki Barber amazingly had 3 of those games over 200 yards, plus another game over 150. Larry Johnson had the other 2 200+ yard games, plus a 3rd game over 150. Besides those 2, Shaun Alexander had the most with 3 games over 150 yards. Under your scoring system, that's a 9 point bonus. 9 points over the course of the season is not really a big deal.

So I would probably just go with 1 pt every 10 rushing yards, with a 2 point bonus at 100 rushing. And if you want to bump up Tiki Barber or Larry Johnson a little bit, you could do that.

    RECEIVING YARDS

Basically the same story. 13 players combined for 20 games with more than 150 receiving yards, with Steve Smith and Santana Moss both having 3. One of Smith's games he was also over 200 yards, while the other 2 players over 200 were Chris Chambers and Plaxico Burress, who each never got above 150 in any other game.

So that means we go with 1 pt every 10 receiving yards, plus a 2 pt bonus at 100 yards receiving. If you want to add 10 points to Steve Smith's totals and 9 points to Santa Moss's totals, feel free.

  9. I see Chad Johnson had 10 touchdowns in a season only once before. I think I'd rather not waste a high draft pick on him and grab McCardell or Galloway later. I'd still get the same production but just less of a show.

Are you high? You expect Chad Johnson to have production similar to Keenan McCardell or Joey Galloway? Chad Johnson, no matter what you think of him, is a definite #1 WR. He's topped 180 points (in the FF Today default scoring) the past 3 seasons. And you can't say it's all because of Palmer. In '03, his breakout season, Jon Kitna was the QB.

Other than last year, Galloway's highest scoring season since 2000 was 120 points. McCardell's highest since 2000 was 165 points in 2003.

Not saying they're bad players, but in no way are they at the level of Chad Johnson.

  10. I remember trying to use OpenOffice at some point. From what I recall, it worked a little bit. I don't remember to what extent. We use OpenOffice at work (small business = too cheap to buy MS Office). I will check it out and get back to you.

Hey, Mike, do you know if the Microsoft Office Trial versions work running the Compiler?

These only work for like 60 days, but as long as they work up to the time of your draft, that's all that matters, right?
