DauntesInferno 0 Posted March 13, 2006 From The Minneapolis Star Tribune St. Paul boy, 3, shoots mom in knee with handgunWhen a 3-year-old St. Paul boy got his hands on a handgun that had been tucked under a couch cushion in his house Sunday afternoon, his mom took it away and removed the gun's cartridge clip. Police said the boy's mother, Lin Lin Xie, 43, then put the gun back on the couch, thinking it was unloaded. But there was still a cartridge remaining in the chamber. The boy picked up the gun a second time and it discharged. The bullet hit his mother in the knee. The incident happened about 12:30 p.m. at the family's home in the 1500 block of McLean Avenue, said police spokesman Pete Crum. Parenting for idiots. GettnHuge 2 Posted March 13, 2006 come on, who doesn't keep a gun locked AND loaded in the sofa? I mean, the kid can't swallow it so what's the problem?
Guest 00ITR499 Posted March 13, 2006 come on, who doesn't keep a gun locked AND loaded in the sofa? I mean, the kid can't swallow it so what's the problem? Exactly. The kid can't choke on it and it's not poisonous. This isn't bad parenting. This is just plain bad luck!
phillybear 366 Posted March 13, 2006 My parents kept giving me authentic loaded guns to play with when I was a toddler. But I never got the hint, and I continue to live, much to their chagrin.
davebg 0 Posted March 13, 2006 If she keeps a loaded gun UNDER the seat cushion...can you imagine how much yayo is IN the cushion?
Guest Mr.T Posted March 13, 2006 What's the big deal? She took the gun away and unloaded the thing. Honest mistake she didn't know there was one left in the chamber.
brinett9 0 Posted March 13, 2006 What's the big deal? She took the gun away and unloaded the thing. Honest mistake she didn't know there was one left in the chamber. Plus it's well known that the kid is a terrible shot. He once lost a grand to Dikk Cheney on a shooting bet.
zen 0 Posted March 13, 2006 I don't know why you people are blaming the parent. This is a profound failure on the child's part. If he could've aimed a little higher he would have immortalized his mom with a shoo-in Darwin Award.
brinett9 0 Posted March 13, 2006 That's the problem with a well-regulated militia. They're always leaving a loaded pistol under the couch cushions.
Churchill610 0 Posted March 14, 2006 Natural selection at work??? Too bad the kid didn't aim higher.
