Cdub100 3,685 Posted March 28, 2006 Why are chicks willing to spend 4-5 times as much on the wedding then on the honeymoon? I could book a really nice 3 week honeymoon to Hawaii for under 5K, but Noooooooo that's too much. Yet she has no problem spending 15-20k ON ONE FOCKING DAY! And it's more like half a day at that. Her sister is spending 15K on her wedding and for the honeymoon they're going to sh!t ass Grand Rapids, MI. I mean WTF? Everyone always says they wished they eloped or took a better honeymoon. Instead of spending all this money on bullsh!t. I guess that's why I'm not doing much of the planing, because it would p!ss me off spending money on all the stupid worthless sh!t. And why the fock do we have to register for new dishes when we both have a perfectly good set. Why not get something cool, like straight up cash. I'm talkin' dolla' dolla' bills yall rant over

I'm talkin' dolla' dolla' bills yall rant over You know when my brother and sister in law got married, it was the parents that pushing all that extra crap. It was hilarious, she kept telling them that she didn't care. Finally, one night at dinner, after she told them that she doesn't care her parents asked her what she wanted her reply was "As long as he shows up, I don't give a schit and the guests don't give a schit.." Its amazing how much emphasis some people put on it, for crying out loud, put that money towards a house if you don't have one yet.

The only problem is I guess I went over the line when I asked her if I could make her an "engagement couch", instead of a ring...Makes sense, right? Something more usefull then a damn ring...Less $ too.. Needless to say she broke up with me not too long after that..

Slruc 0 Posted March 28, 2006 Its amazing how much emphasis some people put on it, for crying out loud, put that money towards a house if you don't have one yet. I agree with that. Same goes for the ring IMO. I don't think it needs to be so excessive, as some expect it to be, use ithe money towards a downpayment or payoff some of those loans or somthing. People are crazy (especially parents and MIL in specific) when it comes to wedding/family traditions.

Also, if you are fighting about money already, you're in for a very short marriage. We're not fighting over money, because I really don't care. If that's what she wants she can have it. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Also I love how people can predict the longevity/strength of a marriage from one post.

brinett9 0 Posted March 28, 2006 That's why we got married in Vegas. Much less work to plan, a beautiful formal wedding at the top of the Stratosphere, and I pulled the whole thing off, including a week long honeymoon, for about $6000.

shovelheadt 68 Posted March 28, 2006 Yes Aren't you from the Detroit area? I ask, because my GF (who has her own bakery) has family in the Southgate area. She actually gets most of her supplies from a wedding/bakery store there called Margie's. It would be no problem for her to do something in that area. Let me know if you're interested at all. She'd cut you a deal. If your woman has her own shiat in mind, I completely understand. cakes@staroccasions.com Here's what the high society bakeries are charging around Indy. Base rate wedding cake – 2.25 per serving (white, yellow, chocolate, half/half) Add .25 per serving for special flavors (carrot, lemon poppy seed, red velvet, spice, devils) Cake on cake designs – 2.75 per serving Special side design - .25 per serving (polka dots, weave) Gumpaste flowers – 1.00 per serving 50.00 deposit on cake stands 40.00 delivery/setup fee

Guest Black Label Society Posted March 28, 2006 My GF and I talked about a wedding, etc if we were to get engaged. She asked what I wanted for a wedding. I said an outdoor wedding near a lake, etc. Something quick and simple, and then roll out 20 kegs, get my buddies band to play and rock out all night long. She said 'if there's a beach there, I'm game for that'. I can see why women want all the glitz and glam of a nice wedding, but if I can get by without it, there's no way I'm passing that up. She has someone else in mind. So instead the hall is going to do some chocolate fountain thing I've told this story before I think: my wife did virtually all of the wedding planning. To help me feel "involved", I was supposed to make the final decision on the cake. The final two were chocolate with raspberry, one mousse, the other jelly. I try them both and pick the jelly. The wife-to-be then talks for two minutes about why we should pick the other one. My response was, "sorry, I didn't realize that I was only supposed to pick the cake if it is the one you want." Lady from hotel: I was fockin with her and she knew it, so we laughed about it. Oh, and we had the mousse.
