jerryskids 6,318 Posted March 29, 2006 Meh Agreed. Katharine was good. Chris got dissed for being himself, despite Simon's praise last week for continuing to do so. Paris was possibly the best, she entered the competition tonight. The rest sucked.

TimmySmith 2,782 Posted March 29, 2006 Agreed. Katharine was good. Chris got dissed for being himself, despite Simon's praise last week for continuing to do so. Paris was possibly the best, she entered the competition tonight. The rest sucked. Simon did not praise Chris last week, he merely noted that Chris has refused to change. And Chris has become very boring, cannot imagine listening to a whole album of his. Was the show better with Kevin? He could not have been worse than those guys last night. EndGame 0 Posted March 29, 2006 Everyone was pretty much awful last night, IMO. Although I was surprised at the judges slamming Mandisa. I'm no fan of contemporary gospel, but I thought she sang it pretty well. Much as I hate to say it, I think the little blonde hottie is gone. Damn she's got a smokin' body! dcOne 2 Posted March 29, 2006 I still say Katherine or Kellie need to sing "My Humps" by Black Eyed Peas, or "Me So Horny" by 2LiveCrew to prove they can sing outside their genre. If they can't they should be booted. That's what this competition is all about, finding someone who can sing all of the following, and sing them well: Rock, Rap, Country, Metal, Soft, and the Blues. Recidivist 1 Posted March 29, 2006 Outside of the overtly evangelical nature of her tune, I thought Mandisa was great. Ditto for McPhee (you could really appreciate her generous caboose last nite with those jeans ). I also thought Taylor and Elliot did pretty well. The rest of course sucked. I originally thought this would be Bucky's last week; however, after the suckfest that was the opening number, I'm predicting Lisa gets the axe.
Dick Hertz 1 Posted March 29, 2006 They all pretty much sucked. They get to choose any song and they all bomb. Is it me or is Mandiesel getting bigger?

I'm no fan of contemporary gospel, but I thought she sang it pretty well. Much as I hate to say it, I think the little blonde hottie is gone. Damn she's got a smokin' body! I thought they all stunk it up. Mandissa and Elliot have the best voices and most range, but I doubt they have the look it takes to win and Elliot picks crappy songs. Someone like Katherine will win (good voice, cute). She's just like Underwood and Clarkson were. Everytime someone sings anything religious, Simon calls them pretentious or self serving. Is he atheist? Dunno. Maybe gospel isn't his thing. He just always rips gospel tunes. Thing is, that's probably what Mandissa would do with an album...contemporary gospel. She'd probably be very good at it. The other thing this night proved is that modern day songs pretty much suck from the vocal perspective. They don't have much vocal range like those 50s songs did last week. Instrumentally though, the new songs are much more entertaining.
NewbieJr 541 Posted March 29, 2006 A few observations from last night..... Kathleen McPhee seems to me to be seperating herself as the best singer. Paris is a very good singer as well as a great performer, in general. Her stage presence may be second only to Taylor Hicks. Chris Doughtry should jump on the chance to be Fuel's singer if those rumors are true. He obviously can only sing one way, and I think it is finally becoming apparent to the judges. Mandisa should not wear jeans.

I thought Taylor Hicks sang very well, whether you liked the song or not. The only thing Simon could say was "Loved the song, loved the way you sang it, hated the styling. You look like Clay Aiken"

shovelheadt 68 Posted March 29, 2006 Anybody hear Paula basically tell the boy band looking dude that she wanted to fock him. You'll have to tell me sometime how you got that scar
surferskin 30 Posted March 29, 2006 Anybody hear Paula basically tell the boy band looking dude that she wanted to fock him. that was the best part of the show...simon totally called her out. "PAULA?!"
jerryskids 6,318 Posted March 29, 2006 Mandisa should not wear jeans. Funny thing, don't know if others notices, but she performed right after Taylor. Who, others noted, Simon called out for "poor styling." Then Mandiesel comes out, and my wife immediately is like why on god's green earth would they put her in light jeans, how huge she looks, she should be in dark colors and flowing outfits. Surprisingly, no one called her out for the styling choice.

jerryskids 6,318 Posted March 29, 2006 Fixed. Well, I admit that I thought she looked fat. I don't know enough about style to have suggested the correction tho.

Ummm actually, I am for "sticking to what you're good at." (hence the rolleyes) I don't think Chris should be dissed for singing his style every week. Fock, when the dood gets a contract, they sure as he11 aren't going to say "Here Chris, try singing sounding a little more like Kenny Loggins" (As I doubt they are going to ask Katherine to sing "Baby Got Back")

The Elevator Killer 497 Posted March 29, 2006 For the last few weeks the contestants have had people like Stevie Wonder and Barry Manilow help them with the arrangements. It shows how much it helped most of them. Last night most everyone sucked or was average at best. Chris seems to be the only one that knows anything about arrangements. I think Bucky bites the green weenie tonight.

Also, how he can bounce up and down that hard and NOT do it to the music was quite impressive.

Vince44 202 Posted March 30, 2006 Mandisa gets overpraised every week, it's about time she gets a fair review. She is not great and there is nothing rare about her. The truth is you can pluck the likes of her out of any church choir, she is like all the rest, very loud and oversings every song. She is getting the fat vote, never doubt the power of the lardass vote, look what it did for Scott Savol last year.
jerryskids 6,318 Posted March 30, 2006 I think the fans made the right choice with Lisa. But wtf, Katharine in the bottom 3 and no Bucky? The look on Bucky's face when he made it instead of her was crassic . There must be a large contingency of white trash redneck fans dialing their rotary phones as fast as their yellow stained fingers can move.
