KSB2424 3,100 Posted April 4, 2006 Does anyone know what the ratings were for that craptastic game last night? This had to be the worst Final Four ever. I watched 24 and went to bed.
Fumbleweed 484 Posted April 4, 2006 Does anyone know what the ratings were for that craptastic game last night? This had to be the worst Final Four ever. I watched 24 and went to bed. Three games......none of which were competitive does not equal worst, IMO. UCLA-Memphis was a CLOSE game, but it was awful to watch. Florida played awesome last night...they were fun to watch, even if the game was not competitive. Basketball was played at a high level this year at the Final Four....just not by two teams playing each other on the same night. Oh, and I heard the ratings were like 20% lower than last year (Dan Patrick stated that on radio).

avoiding injuries 1,363 Posted April 4, 2006 Most brackets were probably decided before the game last night. I won mine with UCLA's win over LSU. I had no interest in last night's game. Congrats to Florida fans though.

NJJoe20 0 Posted April 5, 2006 I must admit, I didn't watch a second of the three games. In fact, I don't think I watched more than 2 minutes of any game except the UConn/Mason game, which had to be the best of the tourney. Nevertheless, it's about time BillyD got his talented team to make a run, the first round chokejobs were getting annoying. Hopefully Kentucky stays away from him, but I have a feeling he will be in Lexington within the next two seasons.

Apu Nahasapeemapetilon 0 Posted April 5, 2006 I'm not so sure it's the actual games that are bringing down the ratings in all of professional sports. I think golf, NASCAR, and soccer (unbelievable) are the only ones with growing ratings over the past 5 years. Football took a hit last two years, but was growing until then. The Olympics were at their worst ever. The NBA and NHL have basically dropped off the charts. Why...commercials....the biggest factor by far. Comercials make the games UNBEARABLE. And watching sports on TIVO suxors cause you usually already know the outcome. Take football. In the mid 90s the games used to last 2:45 or so. Now whey are up to about 3:25 per game. That 40 minutes of non-action you have to sit through. Whether it be commercials or to a certain extent replay. Take basketball. The teams get WAY too many timeouts, then you have the TV timeouts. Intermission is ridiculously long so that CBS can fill all its commercial slots and have 3 morons tell you what happened in the first half, and what they think will happen. Who the hell cares? Just show the frickin game. Golf, NASCAR, and soccer all have 1 thing in common. The games don't stop so you can listen to an ad from Viagra. They break for commercials, but when you come back you just pick up on whatever you missed. I'm convinced the Masters and Daytona are so successful cause they limit commercials...espcecially the Masters, which is a true joy to watch. And the worst part of it is, commercials interfere with the NFL, NBA, NCAA FB/BB, MLB so much that going to a game is unbearable. Sitting in the stands for 4 hours, taking > 1 hr to get back and forth to the game. Hell, I'd pay a few extra bucks for a beer if they'd just stop the 5 minute TV timeouts. The next step is they run the game real time and run the commercials on the top of the screen, or put the advertisments on the jerseys like they do in soccer. That's a much better solution than dealing with all the frickin breaks.
