beefcurtain 1 Posted September 20, 2006 When news hits that any player of significance has the slightest injury, the following happens on this forum. 1) Some tool chooses the dancing banana icon and boasts about how brilliant he was for picking the guy's back-up in the 27th round. 2) The next guy, undoubtably an owner of the injured player, says the injury is nothing serious. Player should miss 2-3 weeks, he says, even if the reports say that the player's leg was amputated. 3) The next jerk, usually the guy whose biggest competitor owns the injured player or missed out on the playerby one pick, comes in and says the injury is career ending. He throws in a hand clapping smiling face icon to rub it in. 4) #2 calls #3 an a--hole. 5) A pestimistic owner of the injured player counters that the injury must be life threatening because the player is on his team and his team is always injury-riddled. He gives a "woe is me" history of his beleagured franchise. 5) Some geek gives an in-depth analysis of the injury from a pseudo-medical perspective using terms he found on the internet that he doesn't really understands. This guy usually sites doctors and similar injuries players suffered in the CFL. 6) The next guy calls the player "injury prone" or "The Next Fred Taylor," even if the guy has never been injured before. 7) A jock writes to tell us how he had a similar injury when he was playing in his pee-wee football championship game 25 years ago and that it took him months to recover. Somehow he tries to pass this off as relevant. 8) The next 20 posts are from Owner #2 and Owner #3 yelling at each other and making up stats.

football_scooter 0 Posted September 21, 2006 [soapbox] While sort of funny, this is a horrible topic as it discredits the entire board, and community at FFT. It's entirely bogus because people who don't post links to support injury claims get summarily beaten down by everyone. There are a lot of people who contribute breaking news. You can get a TON of information here. With the good comes the bad, and with the news comes the opinions. Take the good with the bad or piss off and go find a "better" site. I've gotten more homer advice and inside tips on players I would never have considered and up to the minute news. The second I read an article, someone's posting it here. My hat goes off to all the folks who take the time to contribute BOTH the news AND your opinions of it, wild ass speculation about it and homer insight on it, because it helps me win more FFB games. And all those who would rather see the cup half empty and the opinions as crap and think that everyone is overreacting, try ignoring those posts...then you'll get your nice clean news without all that icky discussion. Good explanation - I too have a sense of humor and often make jokes at my own expense (such as the classic, "insult football_scooter's mother" topic back before the great crash of '05) Glad to hear you weren't seriously bashing the site. I'm not at all "self righteous" as Patstroll suggests - I just appreciate the hard work people here go to in posting up to date news about injuries, and saw the topic as being potentially insulting to those folks. Appreciate the clarification.

Perhaps you should read that thread yourself. Calling people names is not very nice, particularly when you use profanity like that. I am not sure if you have a paranoid complex or something, but even you must realize that someone who posts as much as you is going to have other people in those threads. That is not "stalking", that is just a fact of life. You write in a condescending manner and, as such, you are viewed as being "self-righteous" and "pompous". While it appears that your life revolves around this bored, I would hope that your on-bored personna is not nearly as pathetic as what we see here. 90% of what is on these forums is garbage. People are just putting forth their opinions and, much like the original post suggests, there is a certain amount of banter that goes with it. 10% of what is on the forums is worthwhile. If you can't make fun of the majority of the junk, then you should probably get a life. Does anyone want to bet that cooter has already sent several crying e-mails to the moderators today? football_scooter 0 Posted September 22, 2006 Well, now you have taken this to a new low. Perhaps you should read that thread yourself. Calling people names is not very nice, particularly when you use profanity like that. Calling a spade a spade isn't taking anything anywhere - it's pointing out reality, TROLL. You, here, now, trolling and antagonizing me. Did I ever address you personally? No. Did you address me personally? yes. Thus, you violated the "calling out" rule. Idiot. as for name calling, look up and notice that you called me "cooter" without my ever having spoken to you. Thus I'd be well within my rights to point out what an antagonistic d0uchebag you are for that. I am not sure if you have a paranoid complex or something, but even you must realize that someone who posts as much as you is going to have other people in those threads. That is not "stalking", that is just a fact of life. Oh, so it's paranoia when a tool like you calls me out. I suppose I just imagined that you're in here harassing me out of ht eblue and unsolicited? Funny - I thought paranoia was when one imagined such things, but they weren't actaually happening. Thanks ever so much for setting me straight. ass. You write in a condescending manner and, as such, you are viewed as being "self-righteous" and "pompous". While it appears that your life revolves around this bored, I would hope that your on-bored personna is not nearly as pathetic as what we see here. while I disagree, I have to admit that I am thrilled that I have that much of an effect on you. That you even took a moment to think about any of that makes me smile, because I've spent exactly 0 time thinking about anything you've ever posted here. 90% of what is on these forums is garbage. The 10% who were around in the offseason had a lot of interesting things to say. What a shame that some fockfaced asswipe like you has to come around during the season and ruin a good community for the rest of us.
