Who do you see drafting Marshawn Lynch?

Recommended Posts

Any way he could get all the way to Denver at #21?

profootballtalk.com mockdraft

This is one of the more psycho drafts I've seen. 6 wr's taken in the 1st round....2 from Ohio State and 2 from LSU.....and none of the wr's named Dwayne Jarrett.

Have I missed something?

With the holes the Packers have...I doubt a DT will be their 1st pick...just as I said last year when several mocks had them going after a DT.

It simply is not a place of need for them.

Safety, RB, TE are their biggest immediate needs.

I'm starting to fall for the idea of Lynch being taken in the 1st, especially since I'm seeing a lot of mocks with the Pack getting Rouse from VT in the 2nd. A 6'4", 220 pound freak Safety who will punish runners and wr's alike. I like it.

I'm not even a Vikes fan, but I'm pretty much going to disregard any mocker who says the Vikings are taking Brady Quinn. And in the very remote chance they do pick him, I'll regard the Vikings as drafters in the class of the Raiders and the Chiefs, IMO the two worst drafting teams over the past 10 or so years.

Looking throughout the rest of the draft, are J. Anderson and Okoye 3-4 DEs? I highly doubt MIA is going with Ginn with Chambers and Booker in tow, not to mention Wes Welker-a pretty good return man-in the slot. I hear the Rams are pretty happy w/ their safety play, so Nelson doesn't seem like a smart pick. Carolina has Smith, Keyshawn, and Drew Carter, so I don't see a #4 WR as a smart first-round pick. Maybe Cincy goes with Hall, but I tend to think that Deltha O'Neal will play better next year, Joseph will take over for Tory James, and Keiwan Ratliff and Madieu Williams can cover the #3 and #4 WRs. Denver doesn't take RBs in the first round. Dallas has four quality WRs right now and just hired a defensive head coach.

The Vikings still are banking on Tarvaris Jackson becoming their starting quarterback next season. But a little birdie says that if Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn is available at No. 7, chances are better than not that he'll either be chosen by the Vikings or the pick will be traded lower to a team that covets Quinn more than Minnesota. Quinn's draft status, for Minnesota, is still to be determined by workouts and extensive film study. But the Vikings will have an entourage of scouts at Notre Dame for his personal workout on March 4.

that mock made me laugh. I could see Lynch falling to 21, I could also see the Pack or the gaints taking him before that.

Childress did say on the radio that a qb could be taken if the right guy is there in the first, Quinn is a possibity at 7.

Wasn't really posting the value of the whole draft, just where Lynch was placed.

WHERE'S DWAYNE?

Our initial 2007 mock draft already has attracted plenty of attention -- and has resulted in a flood of e-mails to PFT headquarters.

"Where is USC receiver Dwayne Jarrett?" is the question posed by hundreds (okay dozens . . . okay one dozen) members of PFT Planet.

Given that we have six receivers listed in our first crack at the first round, most have presumed that we merely overlooked Jarrett.

Though we've been guilty of such stoopidity in the past, this time around the omission was intentional. Why? Because the network of scouts and league insiders with whom we collaborated in preparing the first crack at the first round believe that Jarrett will run a 4.6 or slower in his Pro Day workout, which will cause him to fall out of the first round.

Obviously, if/when Jarrett runs faster than 4.6, we'll reassess our position. For now, though, we think that Dwayne Jarrett will be this year's version of former Trojan teammate LenDale White.

Regarding the Jarrett combine time, the following is a fascinating read about "the combine":

http://forum.ninercaphell.com/archive/index.php?t-301.html

It's an article Bill Walsh wrote (in 2006, I believe). Of note, Jerry Rice's combine time was 4.59 seconds, and I think he managed to do OK in the NFL. Not taking a shot at you kutulu, but rather the guys at PFT.

Lynch may be taken much higher if his 40 time is in the 4.4 range. He has the moves and the quick feet, but his breakaway speed has been questioned by some. Most mock drafts have him going to the Packers, but if he runs a 4.4 or sub 4.4, he'll go in the top 12 range.

That's a great read, thanks. It's telling that Walsh places the highest value on the personal interview, of all events in the combine. Unfortunately, even in this day of massive information, we as fans get very little look into what kind of weaknesses a player might show in an interview, or even how much their physical tests might be affected by training specifically for those tests. About the only time I can remember observing a player through college, thinking that he didn't have what it takes to handle himself as a person on an NFL team, and then seeing it come to fruition in the NFL, was watching Ryan Leaf on TV, acting like a jackass on the field at WSU and acting like a jackass on the sidelines.

Huh?

what are you huh-ing about?

did you need me to do some research to prove to you that Willis is on his way out. A good place to start would be google.com Willis McGahee, but you may not want sift through all the garbage, so you could go to Buffalobills.com or possibly even another fantasy site that allows you to search by players and look at updates. I would suggest fflivewire or rotoworld

Hopefully the Giants will take him. Use him as feature and Jacobs 3rd down goaline back. Just pound teams with the 2 headed monster

Giants another team with too many holes. Especially after releasing Pettigout, Emmons, and Lavar Arrington today...

True its tough finding good LT's but i remember in the beginning of the season people referring to Luke as "Puke" but we'll see. Lavar eh not what he once was but i can also see the Giants going OLB first round, probably makes more sense than going with Lynch.

A woman who described herself as a former girlfriend accused California RB Marshawn Lynch of slapping, choking and sexually assaulting her. Lynch won't be charged because of a lack of evidence, but that doesn't mean his draft stock won't be affected. Lynch looked like a sure first-round pick and entered the draft with a year of eligibility remaining. But the red flag is up on this gifted runner. Teams are doing extra homework to determine whether they are comfortable with Lynch's character. It is possible he could fall out of the first round. . . .

yep, something of that nature. Needless to say, he's on the final year of his deal. They won't resign him, so he'll either be traded before draft day or this will be his last year.

He has worn out his welcome in Buffalo. I think the entire city hates him

I hear the jets :dunno:

I've heard the Jets mentioned too. With their young line, a couple good WR's, and an addition of a true breakaway threat at the RB position, they would be able to score with anyone..... Well, provided they have a QB that is..

He won't fall past GB, but if he falls that low, it would be nice to see Denver move up and grab him.

Mike wont degrade himself by taking a RB in the first, much less trading up for one. And this year there are a couple later round RBs (Kenny Irons and Antonio Pittman imo) who are probably a good fit for the Denver system.

Lynch, Who? I am not a big college guy.

But on the issue of who the Vikes draft.

You have the chicken and the egg. That is you need a qb but you also need a wr.

So how FA goes will go into what is done in the draft.

Now, Brad is no longer capable of starting, backing up maybe (as a 2-3). But not starting.

Jackson, may he is the guy. I don't think enough is know yet.

What is known is there is no one on this squad other than the two mentioned.

I would suspect the Vikes grab a veteran with some ability still there to compete with and give them the option not to start Jackson this year. Could this be Plummer? I dont know if he is coachable enough.

But I wouldn't be surprised if a qb is drafted. If they go Quinn though Jackson becomes the bench guy.

I would expect though they draft a mid rounder at this point for those duties.

Good point. He likes to find his gems in the later rounds.

True, but he hasn't had as much luck with RBs lately and was known to have said he was looking to pick Laurence Maroney if the Cutler move did not take place.

I agree with ESPN, Lynch will be a Packer!!

The kid has mad potential. GB could be a great fit for him.
