same here...

He was one of those guys... along with Belushi, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell.... where if he was in the skit - no matter how badly it was written -- it was somehow going to be funny.

Mr. Robinsons's Neighborhood

Gumby

Eddie also did a fantastic Stevie Wonder. He did a skit with the real Stevie once, that was great.

Also did a duet with him as Stevie and Joe Piscapo as Frank Sinatra. I don't like Piscapo, but the skit was hysterical.

Some of the fake commercials were really good too. I remember one for a birth control device based on Star Wars (the anti-nuke one, not the Han & Chewie one). The lights go out as a couple starts to go at it and a red light starts bleeping in the girl's crotch.

I had that on my list of commercials and decided to go with just two.

I watched the SNL reruns on Comedy Central and was . Poorly written, no jokes, a big clump of nothing.

Then, the Mad TV reruns started up. Holy fock, what a difference. The worst Mad TV show is better than the best SNL show.

You're wasting your time watching SNL.

One of my favorites was a Jason Priestly sketch from the early '90s. The New Kids on the Block were on the Arsenio Hall (Chris Rock) show. I haven't been able to find the clip, but I did find the transcript. The horribleness of the song they did was the hilarity. Adam Sandler as Donnie Wahlberg was my favorite ;)

Girl

Performed by Dana Carvey, Jason Priestly, Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider,

and Mike Myers on 15 Feb 1992 (Jason Priestly)

Arsenio (Chris Rock): Now don't leave us hanging with just that.

JP: Yeah, I hear that, Arsenio.

Yo guys, lets kick it!

(Music starts playing)

Yo now, before we start singing,

You also want to know in addition to writing our own songs,

we also do our own choreography.

JP: Girl, I can't stop thinking of you girl,

Y-O-U, spells girl.

Woke up this morning, put on my own clothes,

cause the ladys' not here, to help us no more.

Went down to the store, I got myself some juice,

its tasted good and fresh and I love you.

All: Girl, you are wicked awesome.

DC: I buttoned up my own shirt, whew!

All: Because, you girl...

RS: Whenever I make my own plane reservations...

All: I think of you girl, cause girl you are wicked awesome!

AS: My name is Donny, and I'm here to say

They call me Donny, cause that's my name.

Banana's are good in every way,

An apple a day, keeps the doctor away,

Purina Cat Chow -

All: Chow, chow, chow.

AS: If my friends could only see me now,

I'm walking, I'm talking, McCauly Caukin,

Roger Clemmons was called for walking.

Word, Sister!

All: 1, 2, Dosey dow, dosey dow.

All: You are... wicked awesome!

AS: Peace.

Can't believe you guys missed this one:

The SuperHero cocktail party - with Belushi as "The Hulk". SO many funny (LOL) moments. Most SNL skits are set-ups for one gag (little chocolate donuts). Or showcases for one character (Farley, Ninja Deli), but this one was farking hysterical.

Belushi was just funny to look at with his shirt off and all painted green. Walks into the bathroom on the invisible woman. "It's not to smell like roses ya know!" Or when they all made fun of 'Ant Man' (Garret Morris):

Antman: "I can shrink myself down to the size of an ant!"

Belushi: Rolls his eyes "I bet THAT comes in handy! "

Oh man, I am not doing it justice, but it may have been the best ensemble SNL skit I can remember.

I'm particularly fond of the episode of Sprockets with Jimmy Stewart promoting his then-new book of poetry ("I wrote that one on a piece of toilet paper, after waking up in a puddle of my own SICK.") and the Denise Show.
