DrewzerNC 0 Posted May 8, 2007 12-team/ppr/all td's 6 pts/team d/live internet serpentine draft Iraq deployment has me missing our live draft. I've been burned before by computer drafting. I don't trust any "friends" to draft for me cause they're in the league. Brother is in basic. The wife (nice cans) offered to draft for me, as long as I leave detailed instructions outlining what to do. You and I know this is d*@n near impossible. There are a million different ways the draft could unfold and you have to be ready to strike if an opportunity presents itself. I won the league in 05 and came in third in 06. SA (1st overall) screwed me BIG time last year or else things might have been different. Does anyone know of a way I can pull this off. I get back in-country late Sept. maybe early Oct. VaTerp 0 Posted May 8, 2007 Wish I could offer some advice but I dont know what to tell ya. Anyways to a fellow fantasy footballer, Thanks for serving our country and come home safely.
DrewzerNC 0 Posted May 8, 2007 Thanks or the words of support. It's an adventure and a job and just the way things are. Somebody has to do it right? Anyway, do I just give her a magazine and tell her to pick whoever is left in their overall rankings? That's how you end up with three kickers, four defenses and kevan barlow! jocstrap 8 Posted May 8, 2007 Hail to our military - you guys make me proud! Good luck in Iraq and bad luck on the draft. I would be happy to draft for you if it's via computer. I think ff is a great way to relax your mind while at war. Not that I know what war is like, but I'm glad to hear a military fella loves the hobby. Thoughts and prayers will be with you. P.S. let us know from time to time what division you are, general location, and if we can send you anything like a care package!
MahSoonerz 0 Posted May 8, 2007 Thank you for your sacrifice to serve. If she really loves you and has at least a GED, she can at least be trained in the Best Player Available strategy quickly. Good luck!

What is the deal? 1 Posted May 8, 2007 dude, is your draft in Omaha? I'll draft for you... you must be in the Air Force if your stationed here? (Offut?) Thanks for your service to this country. It is very much appreciated by jerkoffs like me that they won't let in the military
Smokin'!! 0 Posted May 8, 2007 I am Active Duty in the Air Force. I will be going to Iraq in September (atleast I will have all of my drafts done by then!) When I was deployed to Kuwait in '05, I bought a phone card for several hours of call time and called home to my wife during the draft. I was able to do all of my research before hand. She was at home on the computer telling me who had been picked and by whom. I used my personal cheat sheets to know who to pick when it was my turn. At one point our connection was broken and she and I BOTH about had a heart attack!!! I just sold my soul to my buddies for them to cover for me for a couple of hours so that I could be on the phone for so long!
Parkers99 0 Posted May 8, 2007 C'mon brother, you know it's all about the prep work. Do your homework & make her an excellent cheat sheet... then tell the commish to keep an eye out & coach her a little. Since it's a girl, no one's gonna ###### if she asks him a question or three. Karma's on your side, it may work out better than you think. Thanks for your service & hope you're back home soon.

I sense that you came here looking for an option other than putting extra burden on the woman you love. I can vouche for Joc having a very credible reputation here. Trust him to take your back. It would be cool if Joc posted a thread during your draft, let the fftoday community chime in, and allow him to make the pick for you.
ronnydobbs 0 Posted May 8, 2007 This is easy...just use My FFToday. Show your wife how to access it and make sure your league's scoring system is added to it and have her draft from the printed sheets. She can print them up right before she goes to the draft and you won't miss a beat. Plus all your buddies will be getting upstaged by your wife at draft day and you can rub it in later. anty63 0 Posted May 8, 2007 As a fellew fantasy football player and air force member, all i can say is i feel for you. i was deployed last year. 6 out of 12 league players were deployed. i didn't want anybody picking my players. i was suggesting to use antsport.com. do the draft online. it may take a week to do it, but at least we get to make our own picks. the guys (retards!!!)back home didn't want to do it. So i quit as commish and let somebody else run the league. we wind up letting espn make our draft picks. my first pick was edge. nuff said!!!
Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted May 8, 2007 why the hell couldn't your league move up the draft? you'd think it's the least they could do.

I know how you feel bro. Everyone in my big money keeper league is in the military and we have had the same problems. Last season we had a guy in Japan, 1 in Korea, and another in the desert somewhere. One guy ended up with 6 QB's and 1 RB, JJ Arrington. The commish had to take over that team and make sure serious changes. I luckily haven't been overseas when the draft starts. I say do your homework with the wife and make the best cheatsheet you can, and hopefully she can pull it together for ya. Good Luck in the sandbox and be safe! onejayhawk 3 Posted May 8, 2007 Been there. Done that. At least you can watch fooball Monday Morning with your Fruit Loops. Here's a tip. Use one of the purple Gatorade ("RipSomething Rush" I think)from the DFac and one of the red Crystal Lite for one of the big bottles of water. When in Baghdad, check out the meat freezer at the Liberty PX. They have awsome bratwurst when they get it in. J

Parja 0 Posted May 9, 2007 Get the Cheatsheet Compiler & Draft Buddy Set eveything up to your liking Show the wife how to use it Let the wife handle the draft Do a good job of managing your team during the season Profit
Mackgee 0 Posted May 9, 2007 Check this out man here is what we did back in 2003. Take a cheap laptop with you and some CAT-5 cable. Find out where the nearest morale tent or locate where the main router is and just plug in. You will automatically be assigned an IP address and for the most part you should be able to access every fantasy football site there is. Things may have changed a bit since then and you may not have any problem finding a computer with access. Post on this board when you get there let us know where you will be. Also fantasy football should not be your main concern come back in one piece and keep ypu head up time flies over there.
Colbert Nation 0 Posted May 9, 2007 This is a no-brainer, you can't get to your draft website because its blocked by the govt firewall...do what everyone else does...take a computer with wireless internet and mooch off the wireless signal...EVERYONE does this, and they can't use their firewall against you....you must be Security Forces...lol
Lions_or_Die 0 Posted May 10, 2007 I cannot solve your draft problems, but I can say thank you for your service to our country and defending our freedom. You and all the troops are far greater heroes than any of those NFL players! May you and all our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan stay safe.
Shockey fan 0 Posted May 10, 2007 You need to pull your troops out of Iraq - the mission is now pointless. Regardless, your work is appreciated. God speed.

DrewzerNC 0 Posted June 6, 2007 Been here almost 2 weeks now and, while a premo vacation spot it's not, things could definitely be worse. I am able to access the FFToday forums from work but not the homepage Good enough for me! I CAN access the yahoo draft site at the morale, welfare and recreation facility(MWR). We are 9 hours ahead so (barring anything crazy) I should be getting off work right beforehand = getting to draft. Just in case, I'm working on my predraft list in case I can't make it. Thanks for all the comments. People here are doing great work 24/7. I have met a ton of cool Iraqis. They really are like you and me. They want what we have but they're having to fight and die for it. We did too at one point. Anyway, do you guys think Gore should be rated ahead of SA? I had him last year and needless to day I'm still holding a bit of a grudge. At what point in the RB class does it drop off enough to take a CJ or SS rather than a RB, especially in a PPR league? Take it easy and don't let Vick dogsit for ya.
