phillybear 365 Posted November 30, 2007 It's that time of year again, when we get bombarded with "Best Of" lists from every side and angle. So why should we be any different? My favorite song this year: Dashboard by Modest Mouse. I've heard this song hundreds of times on the radio, and still enjoy every second of it. It's very catchy and stays in your head for a while. I'll edit in a link when I get home and away from my work's firewall. Haven't settled on album of the year, but I can always bump this thread.

phillybear 365 Posted December 28, 2007 Song of the year: Dashboard by Modest Mouse. Honorable mention: Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups Album of the Year: Paramore: Riot! The Paramore album had more listenable songs than any other album I came across this year. They seem to have a knack for catchy singles. Otherwise, it was a very forgettable year in music albums. NJJoe20 0 Posted December 29, 2007 I've listened to every song and every album released this year, and I can tell you, without question, that the best album is Of Montreal's Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? Runner up is Arcade Fire's Neon Bible. Give Daft Punk all of the credit for Kanye West's biggest hit...

HenryChinaski 1 Posted December 30, 2007 Hell yes he is. I really feel like I forgot some good ones from earlier in the year though. Some good what? Other albums/songs? I think it was a down year for music, most new stuff that I bought - just seemed to leave alot to be desired. Maybe it was just me, maybe I'm just getting old, newer music just hasn't affected me like it has previous years. Cassadaga was one of the few albums that really got into my head, but all Bright Eyes albums do that to me, so I guess that's to be expected. Wilco's album was good, but not as good as some of Tweedy's other work. It was different, so I give them credit for that, but definitley not on the level that I was hoping for. Modest Mouse's album was somewhat of a letdown as well. I liked it, but just couldn't compare to some of their other work. But still good, nonetheless. The Rilo Kiley album is pretty cool too. Trying to remember the name of the album.. Who else do you listen to? I just started listening to M. Ward - have you ever heard him? Really good stuff, really talented. I'm just starting to get into alot of his stuff. What about the Castanets? Ever heard of them? They are really focking good too, but I can't find too much material. Give them a listen see if you like -- http://www.myspace.com/castanets Listen to the Glory B Demo, Good Friend Yr Hunger. I have to hear about new music through word of mouth, as the radio in New Orleans is focking awful. For a city that's supposed to be about music - sure doesn't have a radio station worth a fock. It's odd.
