Wow - the Beatles are #2 despite Nielson not tracking sales until 20 twenty years after their break up.

Wow, of the 10, I only own albums from the Beatles, Metallica, and Pink Floyd. Guess I'm not up on "current music".

5 country acts in the top 10. What are the odds of that...all the rednecks are the ones buying music. Oh yeah, they probably don't know how to use the internets.

Why doesn't it list the album? that can't be for the artist's career can it?

new Kids on the block sold more than 70,000,000 albums :music_guitarred:

New Kids on the Block are a boy band that enjoyed enormous success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Assembled in Boston in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr, the members consisted of brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. The group went on to sell over 70 million albums worldwide, generated hundreds of millions of dollars in concert revenues, and paved the way for acts like Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. The group broke up in 1994. The group reunited in April 2008, and are now planning a new album and an international concert tour in the fall.

They didn't start scanning until 1991. I am sure the Beatles sold over 800M, as well as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Elvis, etc.

Word.

  Quote
METALLICA's self-titled album from 1991 (also known as the "black" album) is the No. 2 top-selling album of the SoundScan era. The LP shifted 258,000 units in the U.S. in 2007 to bring total sales to 15,077,000 (as of the close of 2007) and closing the gap to the No. 1 album on the list, SHANIA TWAIN's "Come on Over", by 372,000 units. If these percentages keep up, "Metallica" will overtake "Come on Over" during 2009.

METALLICA's top-selling albums during the SoundScan era (as of March 30, 2008):

01. "Metallica" (1991): 15,136,000

02. "…And Justice for All" (1988): 5,114,000 *

03. "Load" (1996): 4,991,000 *

04. "Master of Puppets" (1986): 4,371,000 *

05. "Ride the Lightning" (1984): 4,162,000 *

* Does not include sales prior to the start of the SoundScan era (May 25, 1991).
