huskerinct 1 Posted September 3, 2008 Who do you guys think will end up being the better back in Miami this year? Ricky or Ronnie? 1st yr coming off the ACL scares me with Brown. He is listed as the starter, but does anyone think Ricky has value? Decent #3 RB? # 2 RB potential?
ggroovy17 0 Posted September 3, 2008 Yes. Now try the "search" feature at the top and you'll find plenty of threads on this.
huskerinct 1 Posted September 3, 2008 Thanks, ggroovy. I have done the search thing, but was hoping for some more recent insight. I would like to get more current info about how the Phins will use each of them, rather than how most of us rank Ricky and Ronnie.
gocolts 300 Posted September 3, 2008 I think Ricky puts up better numbers than Ronnie this year. Just a prediction on how the situation has panned out to this point. They can ease Ronnie back really slow letting Ricky pound it early in the season, something I think they will do.
cyeaser 3 Posted September 3, 2008 i agree with ricky having better numbers at least the first half and hopefully the season, everything ive read or seen hes been a beast in camp and in the first few pre-season games..
huskerinct 1 Posted September 3, 2008 I got him cheap in my auction, yesterday. I went WR heavy (PPR), and ended up with a pretty weak RB corp. We can start 2 RB & 4 WR/TE or 3 &3. My RBs are Graham, Perry, Ricky, Felix Jones, Hightower, Mo Morris, and Lamont Jordan. I expect Graham to be solid. If I can just get 1 of the remaining RBs to be decent, my team should hit the post season. My WR/TE are T.O., Colston, Holmes, Winslow, and Ginn Jr. Roth is my QB. I took Ricky, with hopes of either him being the guy in Miami, and trying to trade him, or at least hoping he can get me some consistent weeks. Thanks for your input. Here's the latest depth chart.........Brown is NOT the starter. http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/team/depth_chart.asp I will say contrary to popular belief that Ronnie will regain his job in midseason is false. If Ricky is running the ball well and the Dolphins are winning or at least competitive then they will not just give the job back to Brown. Sporano has been saying that he is going to treat this situation like his RB's in Dallas last year. Ronnie Brown = Julius Jones Ricky Williams = Marion Barber Also, this is a new regime so they have no loyalty to Ronnie Brown. Bottom line: I'd rather have Ricky this year. huskerinct 1 Posted September 3, 2008 LOL, I wish I had read all of these, last night after my auction. I maybe would not have thrown up as much! I feel better now.....kinda.
Antipop 0 Posted September 3, 2008 I picked Ronnie Brown before Ricky in my league and here's why: I'm a focking idiot
Low Score 0 Posted September 3, 2008 Well put groovy. I've heard rumors that Parcells (the real coach) actually likes Ricky but I can't find any real quotes. I agree that Ricky will pound early, they'll ease Ronnie back in since he is the long-term future. Depending upon how they're doing mid-season, they may alter that ratio or leave it intact. Spec7ral 6 Posted September 3, 2008 Ricky will be the number one until he has to piss in a cup.
ggroovy17 0 Posted September 3, 2008 Ricky will be the number one until he has to piss in a cup. No need to worry, he has the Whizzinator. Ricky bought it off ebay from user "onterriosmokes"

Beyond Chaos 75 Posted September 3, 2008 I think they'll split carries throughout the season pending an injury. Remember that Ricky hasn't been the poster boy for health in recent years either.

Consider yourself lucky if Williams makes it through an entire season.. too much baggage here.. not a risk worth taking, even for a #4.. Brown is much safer - a better receiver- and will be more productive
PanicAttack 13 Posted September 3, 2008 Ricky, Ronnie, Bobby, and Mike...... OMFG I am soooo ashamed to admit I got that. But to the OP I am real high, no pun intended, on Ricky this year. And the comparison of Ricky and Ronnie to Jones and MBIII was BRILLIANT. So ask yourself who is the STUD getting drafted in the 1st round and who is getting drafted as a RB3 at best? Zefram0911 0 Posted September 3, 2008 Damn, what a steal Ricky in the 7th? I got Ricky at 8.02 in a PPR 12 man league. I'll ride him until he takes drug tests
Kanil 520 Posted September 3, 2008 When was the last time Ricky played a full 16 game season? I'd be worried about him breaking down during my playoff run.
TK0001 98 Posted September 3, 2008 Well, first of all i can help you out right away. Here's the latest depth chart.........Brown is NOT the starter. http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/team/depth_chart.asp Thanks, I was looking for that. The depth chart for Miami on NFL.com is completely blank. To be fair, though, the OP was posted on 9/2 and your link was last updated 9/1. Maybe Ronnie was named the starter in that span. Doubt it, but maybe. Also, anyone who's jumping on the Ricky train is conveniently forgetting that Ronnie was the undisputed #1 RB last year before he went down. He was posting record numbers. Not saying Ricky won't outgain him this year, just saying don't dismiss Ronnie Brown so easily. Word out of camp is he's making cuts with ease.
huskerinct 1 Posted September 3, 2008 The reason I posted this issue, was that I got Ricky pretty cheap in my auction. I, personally, do not like anyone in their 1st yr off ACL surgery. I paid for Ricky, with the intention of dealing him. I do not expect him to last the full 16 weeks. I expect that Ricky will post solid numbers early, then Ronnie will slowly creep into the picture. If that happens I will do my best to deal Ricky when his stock is high. I was trying to get an idea if anyone else thought the same way I was. I think Ricky is a decent #2, early. Then as the season goes on, his value will drop. Just my $.
