the bosses 0 Posted December 5, 2008 I just got to thinking. Why not Friday night instead of Thursday? It is closer to Sunday, so the short week is not quite as short. People could go to or watch the game with a few beers and not have to worry about work the next day. Just thinking out loud and wishing there was a game to watch tonight. Nemyar 0 Posted December 5, 2008 I think Thursday is considered the perfect non-Sunday day because it doesn't take attention away from high school or college games. Also, I guess Thanksgiving set a precedent that made it a lot easier to swallow regular Thursday games. Honestly, though, I wish we would stick to Sunday. I hate it when my fantasy game is basically decided on Thursday, which it has been a few times already this year.
Candygram4Mongo 8 Posted December 5, 2008 For a significant number of Americans, Friday Night is about one thing: High School Football. You need something to do? Take a seat on some aluminum bleachers, buy a one dollar hot chocolate, and support the kids!

the bosses 0 Posted December 5, 2008 I didn't think about high school football. That takes care of that.
LunaTick 30 Posted December 6, 2008 League doesn't compete against its feeder system. High School Football and College Football. They leave Friday and Saturday open for that reason. To give them a show case night. To not ever get in that way. BTW, ever see the "last boy scout"? Guess we know now the identity of the wr that shot himself. Personally, I would rather see the game back to Sunday/Monday only. And until the league and cable solve there little dispute, blah blah blah and for those that argue against the NFL network. Not all get ESPN either. Who cares.
Vikings4ever 538 Posted December 6, 2008 As said before, it's high school football day. Plus the normal TV audience is a lot bigger on Thursday nights than it is on Friday Nights.
ERZER 0 Posted December 6, 2008 While I would agree Thursday is important to a number of us because of HS football, I have to wonder what the percentage NFL fans care anything about HS football. Still, I would prefer it if they only had them on Sunday and Monday's.

Still, I would prefer it if they only had them on Sunday and Monday's. The NFL season goes so fast that after Thanksgiving I look forward to watching more football throughout the week. Thursdays are just fine with me. I have been a huge NFL fan ever since I can remember...And I do look forward to watching HS football. The games are fun to watch and you would be surprised at how many people do attend. I'm sure most of the Men who have played HS football and are NFL fans look forward to watching their local HS team play. If they moved away like I have, than you still keep an eye on your School, but now root for your new towns team.
SuaveSr 0 Posted December 7, 2008 Where are there high school football games on Friday in December? High school football is over. For competitive balance, the NFL games should be on Friday rather than Thurs. So tv rating must favor Thurs.

LunaTick 30 Posted December 7, 2008 Lets talk Demographics. Friday Night is deadsville for television While it may be okay for attending a game live. It would be tough sell for advertisers of the same product. What is the demographic the NFL is selling too. 18-45 year olds Of this group, the single people are going to look at the game versus happy hour/happening party. And unless it is a mega matchup, are going to ignore the game. Of this group, if they have children in events or is the child. They are going to ignore this either way and attend the kids event. Why waster an investment in a time slot that isn't going to sell or generate revenue at all.
