I would have thought okla jr. would have put up a better showing. I expected more out of tech. Maybe the Big 12 is not as good as I thought, surprised Iowa took it to s carolina too.

pac 10 5-0, impressive. beat some good teams too.

Big Ten Blows. Easily the worst of the "power conf."

They put up a better fight than expected, but the last go ahead TD was pathetic.

Too bad they didn't play on the North Pole. Ohio State would have dominated. :music_guitarred:

Overrated?

Nobody is rating them high.

If anything, this shows Texas as overrated as they needed a last second TD to beat a poor OSU team.

KU and Nebraska are the only teams that have looked good.

This was supposed to be the premiere conference this year. It ain't because no one can D up.

OU will get mauled on Thursday.

bowl games are all about matchups, and the big ten probably had the hardest bowl schedule of any conference if you look at it.

OSU - a texas team that could have been playing for the title

penn st - USC arguably the best team in the country

mich st. a georgia team that was favored to win it all at the start of the season

iowa - SC... yeah so they suck... they got buried

minnesota - a kansas offense that is pretty good ... besides minn sucks iowa stomped their sh1t 55-0

northwestern - a missouri team coming off of a tough loss and at one time was in the national title hunt

wisconsin - yeah fla st isn't that great... maybe the one disappointment here

all i'm saying is that the big ten didn't get to play C-USA, MAC, or MWC cupcakes that a lot of other conferences did... and most of their games went down to the wire... simply because they didn't win doesn't mean they didn't have a good showing... i challenge the pac 10 to play the bowl schedule the big 10 had and to come out significantly better...

Umm..

Arizona beat # 16 BYU

Cal beat Miami

#17Oregon Beat #13 Oklah st.

Oregeon St. beat #20 Pitt

#5 USC bet #8 Penn st.

So the worst team the pac 10 played was miami.

In all of the matchups, they were underdogs except for USC

pac 10 went undefeated against this bowl schedule.

Claiming big 10 had a tougher schedule than the pac10 is laughable. The pac10 probably had the toughest schedule out of any conference. They only played one non top 25 team and Miami is a hell of a lot better than SC or Flordia st.

Ok I'm a Big Ten guy, but don't give them much respect, but its not laugable at all.

I mean really

just because BYU was ranked #16 doesnt mean anything

OSU, Penn. St. MSU, Iowa, and probably N' western beat them

Miami probably the same thing. They were a joke and only in the game because Longshore was playing.

Oky St. OK good team OSU or PSU could probably beat them

Pitt, pathetic Dave Wanstadt is a loser, Michigan probably would have beat them

True Story (I promise) - I was in a Smoothie shop the other day and Chuck Amato (assistant coach at FSU) rolled in. The guy behind the counter was talking to him as I guess he comes in alot during the off season. Here was the conversation:

Smoothie guy: The Seminoles look to be making a comeback

Chuck: We still have a long way to go

Smoothie guy: But ya'll looked real good against Wisconsin

Chuck: Yeah, but they were a bunch of stiffs from the Big 10

Sure it does. It means they were deemed the 16th best team in the country by a combination of knowledgeable voters and complex computer algorithms.

OSU, Penn. St. MSU, Iowa, and probably N' western beat them

I'll give you the first two, since they were ranked significantly higher. MSU couldn't beat #15, why would they beat #16?

Miami probably the same thing. They were a joke and only in the game because Longshore was playing.

Remarkably, teams play their best players.

Oky St. OK good team OSU or PSU could probably beat them

Probably. They were after all ranked higher.

Pitt, pathetic Dave Wanstadt is a loser, Michigan probably would have beat them

:overhead:

So basically your argument is that the PAC-10 teams are ranked too low, and the Big-11 teams are ranked too high, and that voters should consider that next year so that the Big 11 faces equally craptastic foes? :music_guitarred:

this is why they need to throw out all of the cupcake games at the beginning of the year and have conference to conference matchups.

i'm biased here, but i believe as a whole the big ten has better football teams than the pac-10 or the ACC... sure USC is easily better than any of the big 10 teams... but oregon, oregon st, arizona... i believe the majority of the teams in the big ten could beat or at least compete with these "elite pac 10 teams"

to truly settle all this we need the playoff system and conference to conference matchups that rotate every year...

*also... the big ten usually gets a harder schedule during bowl season because traditionally they travel well... $$$ drives a lot of the matchups... the arizonas and oregon st. don't typically draw as much revenue

clearly you're biased. As an SEC guy, there's no way in hell the Big10 is as good as the Pac10.

My post was just to point out to the guy who said he challenged the pac10 to play a more challenging schedule. They played 4 top 25 teams. They were underdogs in every matchup except usc. Yet they went 5-0.

Talking smack on the pac-10 would have some merit if they had gone 3-2 or something, but they didn't lose a single game. I don't get how you can compare big 10s schedule with the pac10's. If i remember correctly, the big 10 was favored in 3 of the matchups.

No comparison, sorry kids.

Obviously, your opinion is in the minority. Penn/osu obviously beat BYU, but what are northwestern, iowa, and msu ranked? If they're not higher, that means, most people believe BYU is better than those teams. Oklah st is good and i would put my money on penn and osu, but again, they're ranked higher. They SHOULD beat them. But the pac-10 were underdogs in this matchup.

Its funny to see people making all these excuses. They travel well. Come on guys, if the big10 had even gone 3-2 it could have been debated. At the very least, you could say big10 and pac10 had comparable schedules. I give the edge to the pac10 but whatever. Big 10 went 1-5. With comparable schedules, the big 10 stunk the joint up while the pac 10 beat everyone. Penn is good no doubt and had a tough matchup.

Not to be too picky, but Arizona was -3 over BYU, Cal was -10 over Miami and Oregon State was -1 over Pitt. Oregon was +1 to Okie State. So really it's not too surprising that they went 5-0.

I'm an Arizona alum, so I was glad to see it. I expect to hear more of the same crap when the NCAA b-ball tourney comes around.

BYU is ranked higher because they play a cupcake schedule and only lost 2 game whiles playing it

as far as the bowl schedule... it's laughable... yes the record is hard to overlook, but it is not even close when comparing the bowl schedule of pac 10 or even acc teams to the big ten bowl schedule

EDIT

and i'm not giving the big 10 a pass... they have been poor the last 2 or 3 years, i just feel it is unfair for the media to label them as the single horrific conference, when in reality the pac 10 and acc 10 are equally horrible... the fact is the sec and the big 12 have separated themselves from the pack and everyone must catch up...

USC

Texas

Georgia

Mizzou

Kansas

Fla St.

South Car

far greater than

Penn St.

BYU

Miami

Ok St

Pitt

then let's throw out the USC/penn game because that is what we are talking about

Ok. st is the only decent team in there

tex/georgia/mizzou is greater than BYU/pitt/Ok st

that is easy to say... but the schedule isn't even comparable

i'll just agree to disagree...

it's like me playing 1 on 1 vs lebron/wade/pierce

then you getting to play against middle schoolers

How many big 10 teams were ranked? 80% of the bears bowl schedule ranked in the top 25. I think it may have been even all top 20. Call beat 20% of the top 20. Well its probably higher than that since there were two top 20 teams in the pac10.
