FeelingMN 273 Posted February 2, 2009 "the Steelers may be the model franchise in the history of American sports." I'd like to see a Steeler SB win where the officials didn't play a major role in the outcome.

Law 231 Posted February 2, 2009 I'd like to see a Steeler SB win where the officials didn't play a major role in the outcome. Then you must not watch any football games...the refs play a role in ALL games!

Me_2006 14 Posted February 2, 2009 They always over-dramatize the moment. This time last year the Steelers weren't even considered the best franchise in the NFL.
RoadLizard 73 Posted February 2, 2009 "the Steelers may be the model franchise in the history of American sports." They are a great salary cap / parity franchise. In any earlier era, they would be .500 at best. Thats the reality of it.

You have to be the biggest hater I've ever seen in my life. Eat Crow. In this era they are the one true NFL Dynasty. All while your cowboys are sitting home, win a playoff game in this decade then talk.
FeelingMN 273 Posted February 2, 2009 yeah, they're above the Yankees...cause the Steelers don't buy their Championships. No need to. Refs are cheaper.
RoadLizard 73 Posted February 2, 2009 yeah, they're above the Yankees...cause the Steelers don't buy their Championships. No, even worse, the Steelers are handed their Championships on a silver platter due to shoddy competition they face in a talent-starved league. They're a run-of-the mill team that made a few plays and got a few breaks to get where they are. Arizona handed it to them with awful defense at the end. Thats the reality of it. You should Thank New England for Brady getting hurt.

Do you recall hearing of this little era called the 70s? 4 SB wins in 6 years. I'm not sure, but I think that is better than .500....in years they won it all! Not just half their games. This current Steeler team back than would have been .500 Those old Steeler teams WERE pretty cool. They stayed together for a while. Cant do that now. Freegin sucks, IMO. Law 231 Posted February 2, 2009 No, even worse, the Steelers are handed their Championships on a silver platter due to shoddy competition they face in a talent-starved league. Sooooo, even they beat all of their competition, they are handed the trophy on a silver platter? If there was a better team, why didn't they win it? 32 teams had a chance. 12 made the playoffs. Only 1 won all their games. That's how games are decided. They aren't handed out to anyone.

FeelingMN 273 Posted February 2, 2009 The Steelers as a franchise DO deserve credit. To call them the best in all of sports is nothing but hyperbole. And I'm not saying the officiating was terrible per se, neither in this game or in SB XL, BUT the officiating was still a storyline in each game. It shouldn't be.
