madd futher mucker 36 Posted May 16, 2009 That's because at the top of his game, he has the potential to be VERY similar to Reggie Bush. Goodson was named Big 12 2006 Freshman of the Year and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 Honors. He rushed for 847 yards and 4 touchdowns averaging a conference high 6.7 yards per carry and also caught 17 passes for 113 yards. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. He gave himself a rep as a sulky uncoachable kid. He had his run-ins with the previous coach, but he did nothing to endear himself to the new head coach, Mike Sherman. When Sherman (formerly head coach of the Packers) came to A&M he expected Goodson to be the 'crown jewel' of the offense. He never fulfilled the role. Goodson's stated that his goal for the 2007 season was 1,300 yards rushing. At the end of the season, however, he rushed for 711 yards on 153 carries. He got in Sherman's dog house for several reasons and wound up splitting carries with Javorskie Lane. He looked to play a greater role in the 2008 season as former tailback Jorvorskie Lane was converted to fullback by new head coach Mike Sherman. Goodson finished the season with 406 rushing yards in 10 games. He also made 37 receptions for 386 yards. In December 2008, Sherman stated that Goodson was not expected to return for his senior season. Word out of College Station is that it was very much Sherman's decision, not Goodson's. Here's an article by Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle: [Mike Goodson didn't leave Texas A&M on the best of terms. In fact, he's become a bit of a modern day Dante Hall -- before Hall became the "X Factor": A supremely talented running back/receiver with some glorious moments for the Aggies, who hit Highway 6 on an inglorious note. There was never any formal announcement that Goodson, a junior from Collins High, was headed for the NFL, just his name finally showing up on an official list of underclassmen who've declared their desire to play in the pros. At his season-ending press conference, Aggies coach Mike Sherman hardly wanted to discuss why Goodson wouldn't be back, and why a year ago Sherman had said he wanted to build the offense around Goodson. "We wanted to, but we didn't," said Sherman, whose first team finished 4-8. "We tried to, but it just didn't happen."] Asked why, Sherman would only say "a combination of things."] He also was drafted into a bad immediate situation, buried on Carolina’s depth chart behind DeAngelo Williams and Stewart. He MIGHT contribute as a returner on special teams. He is in my 1st 3 rounds of my Dynasty Rookie draft board. I don't know that I’d even be inclined to take a 4th round ‘flier ‘on the guy - depends on who else would be still on my board.

Carolina signed Undrafted FA Larry Beavers, and gave him a decent signing bonus to be their potential return guy. http://www.heraldonline.com/206/story/1313720.html 2. Carolina has also been lining up Goodson at WR in a few different formations. Which is a completely different dynamic as a #3 WR than Dwayne Jarrett offers... So he could actually see the field some this year in that roll. I'd also expect if DWil got hurt that Goodson would be a heck of a cop back to Stewart. I don't think that it really affect his value that much. It will take him at least two years to learn the NFL WR game, given he has essentially no experience running routes.
