Flgatorguy87 160 Posted September 9, 2009 You hear alot of people throw around names and say, "well he has RB2 capabilities". What do all of you actually expect from the following categories. I mean what are your lowest expectations as you draft a guy to fill the following spots..... RB1 WR1 RB2 WR2 RB3 WR3 Is their some sort of unwritten standard that everyone goes by. If you draft someone in the 1st rd of a 12 teamer, and he finishes 12th in RB's. Does this make him a low-end RB1?? Please explain your answer.....
FeelingMN 273 Posted September 9, 2009 RB1...WR1...TE1...etc.......these guys are the players you just plug into your lineup and leave them there until bye weeks. Very dependable. Top 10-12 in their position rankings. I expect around 15 points from these guys weekly. RB2....WR2....these guys will play most weeks but might be benched if they have a bad matchup. Top 25 player within their position. 8-12 pts from these guys. #3 guys are most dependent on matchups. They've got upside, but are pretty inconsistent. Just give me something....3-10 points. #4/#5 players are bench players needed for depth/bye week replacements. Any positive number.
We Tigers 71 Posted September 9, 2009 Yes, I base it on projected finish. Always thought that was the standard. In a 12-teamer, the top 12 RBs fall under RB1. In a 16-teamer, I'd consider the top 16 RBs to be RB1. A guy who finishes as the 8th best RB is an RB1 whether you got him in the 1st round or the 15th. If someone's not quite WR3 material, I don't think they'll finish in the top 36 WRs in a 12-team league. For general reference ("How will Dwayne Bowe do this year," etc.), I think we mostly discuss it by 12 players per tier, since 12-team leagues seem to be the most common. FeelingMN's breakdown of expectations and sit/start is pretty spot-on too. Of course, if you're saying "Larry Johnson is my RB2," then you mean he's the second best RB you have on your roster. Any positive number. i like most of what FeelingMN has said here except I differ on RB or WR 3 definitions. to me, there are guys out there, even starters for their teams, whom I view as RB and WR 3 even tho they can easily get more than 3-10 pts. In these cases, it comes down to where you draft them. I like having two solid RB's so a guy like Lynch I would like as a RB3 not a RB2 this year because of his suspension. Any of the rookie RB's I will also draft as RB 3's because they are not yet dependable. I do agree that these #3 type guys are inconsistant.
Flgatorguy87 160 Posted September 9, 2009 So it seems safe to say, than it differs on projection RB1 vs. My RB1 You could possibly have 3 guys that finish top 12 and they would be your RB1, RB2, RB3. But all of these guys would be technically a RB1.......

BINGO that is the goal of most to have 3 RB1s if you end the season with 3 of top 12 RBs you should have a very good season i would like one #1 on one of my teams but i have bunch of RB2's and RB3's and Pierre not helping matters
