PATSSOX 22 Posted December 4, 2009 Steve Slaton expected to miss clash with Jags Slaton The Houston Chronicle reports that Steve Slaton (neck) is not expected to play Sunday against Jacksonville. Chris Brown will start, with Ryan Moats next in line for carries. Slaton has numbness in his arms related to a previously undisclosed injury. "It's something he has been dealing with for awhile but it's gotten worse in the last 24 hours," coach Gary Kubiak revealed. The Jaguars are No. 10 against the run. Expect a decidedly pass-first game plan Sunday from Houston. Dec. 4 - 1:35 pm et Source: Houston Chronicle Numbness in arms can not be a good thing Well looks like i may have to ride Maroney as my #3 back going into playoffs. TheGambinoCrimeFamily 0 Posted December 4, 2009 numbing in the arms is indicative of a bulging disk in the c-6/c-7 region, so it's not something to take lightly. anyone who has had bulging disks would not be very eager to play contact football.
Kilroy 0 Posted December 4, 2009 numbing in the arms is indicative of a bulging disk in the c-6/c-7 region, so it's not something to take lightly. I'm assuming the c-6 / c-7 region is around the neck area? IIRC, Slaton missed practice time leading up to Week 12's game against the Colts with what was described as a neck injury. Earlier in the week they were saying it was a neck injury that was again causing him to miss practice this week. Since he ended up playing against the Colts, I assumed they were just letting him get some extra rest and that he would be good to go on Sunday. This is the first I've heard of the numbness issues though. Hopefully it won't be something that derails his career. I'm not familar with any of this stuff, so I don't know how much of an impact it will have on him long term, but it sounds like it could be a serious thing to deal with. Matthew's Berry's 0 Posted December 4, 2009 My opponent has him in a critical matchup to determine the playoff entrants. Scoot over ... we be in the same boat. We are playing for the Division and the winner scores about $500! I'm sure he won't be thrilled when he logs onto his computer and sees that I am the new proud owner of Chris Brown ... and he will have to pickup and start the likes of Leonard Weaver or Sammy Morris. BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted December 4, 2009 Who had a bigger bust year Slaton or Forte? They were both the next big thing and fell flat. Slaton's injury seems like a major concern going forward in his career. Numbness in his arms? Hurt back and neck? In dynasty leagues his value just plummeted. GridIronAssassin#1 0 Posted December 4, 2009 What kind of numbers will Chris Brown bring in?
DamageIncVacc 6 Posted December 4, 2009 Brown was a good Rb and is still only like 28. His issue was he was always getting injured. Hes not a talent like Jackson , Johnson , Gore etc but he is a decent Rb who is big like Jacobs. ( 6-3 , 240) and he runs upright like Jacobs , thats why he was always injured. He showed last week he can run . He had a 5.5 ypc and a nice 5 yard td run last week. Hes a decent flex / RB 2 this week. When you got guys like Mcfadden , Jennings , Norwood , K Smith like I do this is a Christmas Miracle to be able to pick up a starting RB who is half way decent the Friday before the last fantasy week. Hes starting on my team as my #1 back with Hightower ( or wells) as my #2. Not great but better then my other options.

Matthew's Berry's 0 Posted December 5, 2009 Is Ricky Moats completely out of the equation? Looks that way ... soooo strange after his BREAKOUT GAME he goes back to not a carry. I haven't seen him in weeks ... maybe Moats fell into one?

Ive been rotating he and Slaton and now this may kill what little depth i now have. i was to slow on getting Brown last week and someone else grabbed him this makes Brown a decent RB2 id say. Maybe Moats gets back in the mix. It does not sound good for Slaton and if the Texans lose this weekend they may decide to sit Slaton to play it safe Just a thought but those of us that own Slaton and dont have Brown are not happy
BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted December 5, 2009 Forte, because he had a higher draft position or auction cost You know I agree with your logic but with Forte still playing during the fantasy playoffs and Slaton being out I'd have to disagree with your choice. Forte could still bust out with a big game this week against St Louis and carry teams into the 2nd round. Slaton was a top 10 running back and I'm sure drafted in the 1st five in many leagues. Our playoffs start week 13 with the championship weeks 15 & 16. We still play a 17 week season by playing double games week 3 (the last week before byes). And sure Baltimore and the Vikings matchups suck but I'd still say if he performs well vs St Louis it's going to win some teams 1st round game and get others in the playoffs. DamageIncVacc 6 Posted December 5, 2009 Actually just read that brown injured his knee last week and will wear a brace to play. uggg. He did practice fully but the dude just cant stay healthy. One hit to the knee and its Ryan Moats time. I have some doubts now that I did not have 5 minutes ago but I still got no better choices then Brown. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports...nt/6753350.html Brown participated fully in the Friday practice and said he’s prepared to start, although he’ll be wearing a substantial knee brace. “Obviously anybody who protects the quarterback’s blind side is important to the team,” Kubiak said. “It’s huge for our team (that he plays). This kid has not missed a snap since he got off the plane (as the top draft choice in 2008) here in Houston. We count on him big time. I see him over there smiling, so I feel very good about his being ready to go.” Brown was limping badly in the locker room after the Indy game. He admits, based on how the knee felt then, he’s surprised to have progressed as much as he has. “It was really sore,” he said. “But today it felt the best it has. I’m pretty encouraged with the way I’ve progressed this week.”
ghost168 0 Posted December 5, 2009 If you are a schaub owner then brown will be a good pickup. Should be a high scoring game against Jacksonville and Houston should score 4-5 touchdowns. Brown will get the goalline carries

BirdBradyBobbyOrr 0 Posted December 5, 2009 Actually we play a 17 week Season in 16 weeks. We completely eliminated week 17 but still play 13 regular season games but in 12 weeks, because week 3 is a SUPERWEEK where everyteam plays twice. It is the freaking best week of the season. We still play 4 weeks of playoffs. 6 teams get in the two division winners get 1st round byes, the winners of week 13 face the division winners in week 14 and the winners of those games play weeks 15 and 16 are the championship. Does that make sense? TWO WORDS! Auction Draft! Go Auction it dominated! The league was competitive and the draft was never better or more fun. Snake drafts are done, auctions are the way to go. PS The 26 weeks sounds fun but that's a lot to watch for each week.
