edjr 6,578 Posted April 13, 2010 I remember hearing or reading about it.. eta: from wiki He met his first wife, Melanie Rockall, when he was 21. They married in 1979, but five years later they parted when she discovered he was having an affair with his manager's secretary, Gill Bennett. His divorce from Rockall came before his championship successes, and her settlement was relatively small. He married Bennett in 1986, and the couple had three children: Natalie, Matthew, and Georgia. They split up in 1995 after Faldo began a relationship with 20-year-old American golfing student Brenna Cepelak. Their three-year affair ended when he met Valerie Bercher. The spurned Miss Cepelak famously battered Faldo's Porsche 959 with a golf club, causing £10,000 damage. Faldo's relationship with Bercher, a Swiss PR agent, began in 1998 when they met at the European Masters golf tournament. At the time, Valerie was working for marketing company IMG. She left her fiance Olivier Delaloye and married Faldo in July 2001 (the same day as his ex-caddie Fanny Sunesson got married, in a different location) in a lavish ceremony at his Windsor home, and they have a daughter Emma Scarlet (born 2003). It was announced in May 2006 that Faldo had filed for divorce.[9]

WhiteWonder 2,673 Posted April 13, 2010 the main difference I see is that he went from one relationship to the next. he had an affair with 1 woman and ended up marrying her after his divorce. Cheated on the new wife with 1 girl and had a 3 year relationship with that one Tiger simply cheated on his wife with any poon he could get... 7+ women without any intent to leave Elin for any of them. Nick was a cheater, Tiger is a cheater + sex addict? Still, Nick Faldo...not cool.
Skiptown 0 Posted April 13, 2010 The PGA used to play the Tucson Open in January and in the 1994 edition Nick met a 19 year old from the U of A women's golf team. I was in a class with her (and about 500 other people) when the British press came busting into the class to take pics of her. As I remember, a cute blonde with 34 B-C. The wives (in the back of their mind) have to know it. It's been happening since the first large paycheck was handed out in sports. Somewhere, right now a famous married athlete is waking up beside some other woman. No need ot try to make excuses for one and not the other. Tiger was just more famous than the others (like Faldo) in this "24 hour news/rumor/internet" era of media. So everybody freaked out more than normal. That's pretty much it. We can all stop with the fake high morality stance now.

KSB2424 3,148 Posted April 14, 2010 Sounds like a man that cheats on his wife. Nah, I went the Derek Jeter route and waited until I was 31 to get married. The point is that what Faldo or Tiger does between sheets is between him, his wife, his family, and his God (if he has one). That's pretty much it. Much like Faldo, or A-Rod, or D-Wade, or Tiger. They are just people I've never met and don't know, that I watch on TV and sometimes in person play a game as entertainment. That's it. If you dislike an athlete becuase of his personal life that is your choice. However I find it very funny that people (like the person I quoted) look the other way on one, and freak out and demonize the other out of some fake high morality all the sudden. That's all. ETA: In sorta the same theme as this Faldo thing, Greg Doyle wrote an interesting collumn the other day about how we the fans and the media have not learned a damn thing. Even if you disagree, it is an interesting veiwpoint. http://www.cbssports.com/columns/story/132...it-might-not-be
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted April 14, 2010 I believe that Fred Couples (who everyone was blowing this past week) was less than faithful to his wife who was dying from breast cancer. I also don't know what caused his first ex-wife to commit suicide
shovelheadt 68 Posted April 14, 2010 Faldo has about 80% more BS to pull to get close to Tiger's sexual accomplishments. Close to 20 women, porn stars, married with kids, rumors of gay secks, etc.

You're digging now. 2. My morality on the issue is not fake. 3. yes you are right, rich athletes cheat everyday.
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted April 16, 2010 From Golf Digest, May 2010 Melanie Hickey, ex-wife of Nick Faldo and now a PR consultant, on Tiger Woods in The Observer: "Over 20 years ago, in a life briefly enjoyed on the inside of the ropes, I lived with the same kind of egocentric, nay, narcissistic behavior that achieves greatness. At the time, I felt that the very characteristics that make a sportsman great are the ones that can destroy a marriage. Interesting to note that both of Nick's ex-wives are PR consultants.
