Old School 360 Posted May 1, 2010 Hope ya got your high waters on. Channel 2 and 5 have some nice TDoT live shots up and I just watched a mobile home float down the interstate. Stay safe! That was a classroom from Lighthouse you saw floating down the interstate and shatter into pieces when it hit a tractor trailer. 3 Interstate highways intersect Nashville. 24 & 65 are both flooded and shutdown. I was driving home between 3 & 4 pm and there is water in places where I have never seen it. It is fricking crazy. It started raining around 7am, the front has stalled, it is supposed to rain all night & all day tomorrow. There are reports of 7 to 8 inches of rainfall in some areas already today. Old School 360 Posted May 2, 2010 You poor basturds are focked Agreed- one poor bastard drowned in his car. Not sure if he drove into water or got stranded in traffic and had the water come up around him. You aren't supposed to drown while driving your cat down the Interstate highway. Saint Elistan 106 Posted May 2, 2010 You aren't supposed to drown while driving your cat down the Interstate highway. SUX demands this technology! This is getting ridiculous though. I'm glad I don't live and work out there anymore. Up to 8 dead credited to this storm system so far is what I'm hearing. The Interstate pictures are still overwhelming. Reminiscent of movie-style natural disaster scenes.
Fred Sanford 0 Posted May 2, 2010 Just got home to Murfreesboro from Kentucky. I-24 was open but we had to slow down between Briley Parkway and Harding to go through about 100 yards of 1 ft high water and the flood along side the interstate around Bell rd is crazy. Never seen anything like it.

Sho Nuff 720 Posted May 4, 2010 Fock, I love Opry Mills....was going to go see Iron Man on Imax there. I wonder how long this is going to take to fix. The mall...the hotel...all of it. Downtown riverfront. LP field flooded. Just freaking awful all around. Only 1 water treatment plant running and its being threatened by the river now too. Saint Elistan 106 Posted May 4, 2010 Do you know how high the water is at these locations? I guess any level can cause massive damage, but I haven't heard anything. What are the losses at these places looking like?

Sho Nuff 720 Posted May 4, 2010 Do you know how high the water is at these locations? I guess any level can cause massive damage, but I haven't heard anything. What are the losses at these places looking like? 6-10 feet inside the hotel...pretty much millions in damages there...probably closed for a few months. Opry house flooded. Symphony Center downtown flooded in the basement. LP Field...though, other than the locker room and offices down there should be ok, field probably won't be too bad off. Bridgestone arena basement was flooded...all of the electrical was down there which could hurt it bad. The losses around town will be huge. Especially the people's houses...most likely don't have flood insurance. They showed a few houses burning yesterday...and saying how bad that was on top of the flood. Monetarily though, those people are better off if they have good home owners insurance and fire coverage. Can't bring back their belongings though...but from the financial side the fire was probably better for that house than the flood. Just a big bunch of suck all around for these people and businesses. spork in the road 2 Posted May 5, 2010 Actually just got back from Nashville. Here is a brief summary: Sunday late afternoon, sweating out flight to Nashville. Flight isn't cancelled. I feel lucky, but that is all about to change. Sunday evening, arrive in Nashville, start hearing rumors about power outage in the Gaylord Opry Hotel. I'm sure it's worked out by now. Sunday 8pm, arrive at hotel where I am stuck in a ballroom with 1,000 of my closets friends. That's right at least 1,000 people in the largest ballroom I have ever seen. I begin to think that if the power does come back on it will take forever to check 1,000 people in. Briefly think about calling a cab to transfer to another hotel, but I'm sure they will fix it soon. After all it isn't raining. The water will crest soon. Sunday 9pm, I have now maxed out the volume on my iPad. I'm sure I am risking long term hearing problems, but it's the only non-alcoholic way to drown out 1,000 other people. Sunday 10pm, sleeping face down while sitting at a conference table. This will be the most comfortable accomodations for the next 36 hrs. A hotel worker wakes me up to tell me that FEMA has told us to evacuate. Definitely should have booked other hotel. Sunday 10:15, outside with 2,000 other people. Folks are smoking like crazy. People are told to leave their luggage and get in buses to transfer to some high school. Fock that, I'm not leaving my luggage. Sunday 10:16, confirmed that the river is still rising and the army corp. of engineers is releasing water upriver. Revise position on evacuation to "will evacuate, will attempt to smuggle luggage." Sunday 11pm, got on one of the last buses with all my luggage. Think about booking flight home, but I'm sure the water will crest and we can go back to the hotel. Already spending refund of hotel accomodations in my mind. Sunday 12pm, high school blows. Try to sleep on concrete like surface. I know it can't be actual concrete because concrete cannot get cold enough to suck all life force out your body. Monday 1am, hourly announcements start. Each announcement starts with "If by some miracle of god you were able to get to sleep, wake up and listen to this BS announcement. Also, there are free sammiches and cigarettes (yes cigarettes) in the cafeteria. Monday 1:30am, woken up by fire alarm. It is the loudest fire alarm in the history of mankind. Most people are driven outside. I pray for the sweet release of death. Who could have predicted that free cigarettes = setting off fire alarms Monday 2:00am, woken up by announcement stating that there is no smoking inside. I see someone sleeping facedown on the floor. No pillow or blanket or anything. That dude is hardcore, I can barely lay down in one position for more than 15 minutes. Consider kicking him just because. Don't because he is all the way on the other side of the hallway and I can't make it the extra ten feet. Monday 2:15 am, rumors of pillows and blankets. A crowd swarms one of the supply vans. It looks like a scene out of a zombie movie where a vehicle is surrounded and more people keep streaming out. I feel defeated but I notice someone is wearing an actual tape measure as a belt. This is not as a result of the flood, they're just a douche. I feel better than one person on the planet. Monday 4:15 am, finally get pillow and blanket. This is better than when my kids are born and better than winning the lottery. Ok, not as good as the lottery, but definitely better than when the kids were born, frankly who knows who the real father is. Monday 6:15 am, conference canceled Monday 6:16 am, "American Airlines, for reservations please say reservations" signal lost, call dropped. Look for dog/homeless person/small person to kick. Monday 6:17 am, "American Airlines, no flights today for the same price." "Ma'am, I will spend the entirety of the children's college fund to get out today." "ok, I have you on a flight this evening" Extra charge = $10.00 (WTF!!). Start yelling "Suck it" to other passengers on the airport shuttle. Middle aged nun and high school cheer leading coach are unimpressed. Fock them, they're not getting home today. 6:20am - 6:55pm Hang out in Nashville airport. See 15 people who have earlier and direct flights (WTF?). See tape measure belt woman again. I have had 15 mins. sleep in the last 36 hrs. The tape measure belt woman has transformed into a source of inspiration, a tale of American ingenuity and self reliance. I get up to speak to her but instead spill 3/4 of a frappichino on my shirt and pants. Ordinarily this would upset me, but at this point I have been wearing this outfit for 36 hrs and I plan to burn the pants and shirt when I get home. There's more including urinating in public and almost stabbing a fattie who kept invading my personal space, but that's for another day.

Yeah, and the Opryland Hotel was quite nice too...they said it will be at least July til they can open again. Cool thing I heard they are doing though, still paying all of their employees while they are closed.
