I have absolutely no problem admitting that I like Christopher Cross. With a voice like that, he would have remained a star for many years except for the fact that he was overweight and balding...a no-no in the heart of the video era.

He was supposed to do a string of 3 shows with the Nashville Symphony this past weekend...instead, the Symphony center was hit by the flooding (lost 2 Steinway Grand pianos and part of the $2.5 million organ).

They ended up doing a free show downtown Friday night...sucks that I missed it.

I only know 2 of his songs and they both are pretty much the same.

Sailing and Ride like the Wind :dunno:

I have to admit that I'm shocked that I have two replies and both are serious ones.

If anyone only knows him from his radio hits, he has some great easy listening songs that were never released as singles. If you're ever setting mood music or in a mood to put on relaxing music with your Sunday paper and coffee, check out tunes like Words Of Wisdom, Swept Away, Talking In My Sleep, and Is There Something.

Sailing and Ride like the Wind

Exactly. Sailing is a slow, piano song and RLTW is an uptempo song with Michael McDonald on background vocals.

And you call yourself a DJ? :dunno:

Have always like C. Cross. Damnit, between admitting I watch Charmed and now this - I'm headed out at lunch to buy some porno mags to reset my balance.

Not really sure what you're getting at.

Are you saying that because it takes wind to sail, that the songs are the same?

You do realize that Ride Like The Wind has absolutely nothing to do with sailing, right. Or water?

A few years ago, he performed a concert in Ponca City, OK. Beautiful art deco theatre, nice acoustics.

Friends that attended say it was the loudest show they'd ever been to. Apparently, his monitor was malfunctioning, so they cranked the sound up to deafening.

Got a pretty big laugh out of my buddy who's seen hundreds of rock shows complaining about the noise at a Christopher Cross concert in an 850 seat venue.

Oh, and I hate all his songs.

Dude, please tell me you're trying to be stupid. No one can possibly misunderstand so many things in one day. No one.

Can't say I really put a lot of thought trying to interpret the meaning of the lyrics. But let me guess its either about drugs or sex? sailing-probably getting high.

Asked about the song “Sailing”, Christopher Cross said that it really is just about sailing in Texas with a friend to get away from teenage trials and tribulations. As he said on the Howard Stern radio show, if the friend had taken him bowling, the song might actually have been entitled “Bowling”.

It's not far down to paradise

At least it's not for me

And if the wind is right you can sail away

And find tranquility

The canvas can do miracles

Just you wait and see

Believe me

(Psssst, Edjr...the sails are made of canvas)

You're playing your usual role of know-it-all who really knows nothing.
