rtcr 0 Posted September 24, 2010 Was McCoy's performance last week because of the Lions, or...is he the re-incarnation of the old, healthy Brian Westbrook going forward?
Turcaso 1 Posted September 24, 2010 I think the value for him goes up with Vick there opposed to Kolb. Defenses are more susceptible when having to account for Vick as well.
RicemanX 20 Posted September 24, 2010 Vick and McCoy's performances last week is SO hard to read because it was against the Lions. We gotta see how they do this week before making a decision.

I agree...but McCoy looks better that he did last year IMO. He looks bigger and more physical. I didn't like him going into the year but he looks more like a featured back that I believed he would be. And as I stated I think an offense with Vick raises his value more. da_mane_man 1 Posted September 24, 2010 eehhh, idk how much of a featured back mccoy can be going forward. andy reid loves to throw, and vick will account for a good amount of their rushing yards. mccoy had a good game against the lions, but mostly cause of his TDs. he really didn't rush for an insane amount of yards. as we all know, td's are hard to predict. Shakespeare 0 Posted September 24, 2010 How about neither? I'm watching his performance this week to see if this kid is for real. As a McCoy owner, I'm very excited about his potential with Vick under center. I remember another shifty RB that did quite well with Vick - Warrick Dunn. Check out Dunn's stats with Vick (2002-2006), remembering that Vick was hurt in 2003: http://drp.ly/rl9m
MDC 6,754 Posted September 24, 2010 I drafted Lesean in Round 5 of a 14-team league. Some owners thought that was a reach, but I figured he had a very good chance at hitting 1,100-1,200 total yards and I didn't see many wideouts who could put up those kind of numbers. Didn't expect many TDs at all - before the season I'd have said 7-8 total, max. Now I'm adjusting my expectations upward. McCoy isn't a Westbrook type talent but he's in a great position. Mike Bell has been injured all preseason and really isn't that good. Now that Weaver is done for the year there really isn't anyone to take many touches away from McCoy. The Eagles don't run the ball a whole lot but Shady is now virtually guaranteed 12-15 carries per game and he's an excellent receiver out of the backfield. 1,000 on the ground plus another 400 or so through the air doesn't look impossible now. The big question is whether he's going to be able to score enough to make a big leap up. 4 TDs in the first 2 games looks great but the Eagles are a poor short yardage rushing team so he may have to do most of his damage outside the redzone. But assuming the yardage is there and he wasn't a high pick I don't think anyone will mind. I'm happy to have him in my lineup.
sirensong 111 Posted September 24, 2010 the value of a hybrid back like mccoy goes up with a disruptive QB like vick. when i say disruptive, i mean that QBs like vick actively contribute to defensive breakdowns by posing a variety of unpredictable threats on any given play. what this creates is assignment problems for defenders, which opens lanes. consider the chip block. with a pocket QB, the RB on a chip is the second coverage problem for a zone-dropping LB. the LB has his downfield coverage assignment, and his drop takes the back into account. the RB can make the catch after the chip, but usually the yardage isn't going to be significant. now add a third variable--a mobile QB who can either extend the pass play by rolling out(drastically changing the angles) or pose a legitimate run threat. now our LB in coverage is faced with a number of different problems. if he continues to sink, he runs the risk of dropping himself out of the play. if he shifts with the rollout, he can get severely caught if the QB reverses field. and worst of all, he can't communicate with other defenders as the play emerges. this is where a guy like mccoy really emerges, because he can lose himself in the coverage and create space. this is how so many of westbrooks big plays happened--mcnabb would extend the play, and westbrook would suddenly get the ball in space, where he could use his quickness. point being, vick adds to mccoy's value immensely, in that mccoy has more opportunities for the big play. if/when kolb comes back, i think expectations should be scaled down consoderably--mccoy will still get touches and yardage, but he'll have fewer gamebreaking opportunities. as a mccoy owner, i'm hoping that vick plays out the season. Couldn't have said it better myself. Any defense facing Vick will have a "mike" spy on him which will open up space for McCoy. Also, if I am not mistaken.....McCoy's rep coming out of college was a back with a nose for the endzone. I drafted him at 5.02 in a ten teamer and am very happy so far........even though I haven't played him so far.......will debut him this week.
