MDC 6,628 Posted October 12, 2010 In seven seasons with the Bengals, Lewis is 56-55-1 with a division championship last year, two postseason births and two playoff wins. Those numbers would be a lot better if it weren't for a 4-11-1 season in '08 when Palmer missed basically the whole year. Before he joined the team in 2003, the Bengals hadn't had a winning record since 1990. In the seven seasons prior to his arrival, their record was 34-78. Lewis gets a pass because he took a historically awful franchise and made them respectable again.

His first year Kitna was the comeback player of the year and in his second year was Palmers first as a starter. He went 8-8 both years. He has done a good job, but it's very frustrating this year because fans expected a dominate team this year.
Young_Grasshopper 0 Posted October 12, 2010 The Bengals going forward are in terrible shape. TO and Ochocinco are okay now but on the downside of their careers. Palmer will never take that team to the next level, leaving Jordan Palmer and Dan LeFevour. Cedric Benson will be a steady producer for a couple more years but isn't good enough to be the focal point of the team. The defense is good, but we aren't talking about the Steelers or the Ravens here. They will be average this year and worse going forward. Next year could be 4-12 territory. I think Lewis will get the axe at the end of the season.

I personally think Lewis is doing well given the talent on the team.

I'm doubtful he'd even want to come back next year. I think he's wanted out for a while but didn't want to resign. Letting his contract run out and walking away makes sense. Winning is not the primary goal of Bengals ownership.
