mo lester 0 Posted March 24, 2011 Hi all The FF Buddies have been making a bi-annual trip to a different NFL city . Being Canucks, this is obviously a huge novelty for us. First trip was Seattle (strictly because of logistics- direct flight, closest destination etc.) Food was great, atmosphere at game was amazing. Last year was Chicago. Giordanos, Redhead Piano Bar and Wrigley were by FAR the highlights. Soldier Field was a let down with the atmosphere *shrug* This fall looks like a few finalists.... ATL, Hou, Bos, or Denver. Any insights or tips would be great to make the decision. Regardless of the NFL, we look are definately in for a College game and an MLB game. Culinary and scenery are musts! Any insights or tips would be great to make the decision. Regardless of the NFL, we look are definately in for a College game and an MLB game. Culinary and scenery are musts! I've been to some of those place, so I'll help. First off, no to Atlanta. Atlanta is a shithole urban blight surrounded by a ring of boring yuppie suburbs. And it is a notoriously bad sports town. There are no bars or anything near the stadium, and you'd have to take MARTA (moving africans rapidly through atlanta) to get anywhere. Skip it. If you really wanna do the South, do New Orleans. Great food, bars (nuff said) etc. Superdome is a cool crowd. Denver is a cool town. Very clean. Don't know much about the food though. Houston is kind of a shithole, but a fun one. Of those four, I'd lean toward boston. Great seafood, I'm sure gillete stadium is a great atmosphere, and they are all a bunch of drunks up there, so the bars gotta be good. Have you considered going to the London game?

mo lester 0 Posted March 24, 2011 san fran sounds about right for you and your piano bar culinary homo friends Other than the homo part... we thought of SF. Problem is we all have wives and a lot of cities are not allowed, due to the spouses wishing to visit these cities as well.. Pretty tough to do NYC or Tampa (families) without taking your sig other and kids!
IGotWorms 4,053 Posted March 25, 2011 I'd go with Denver. Great city. Boston would be a close second. My only complaint with going to a football game there is that you have to travel out to Foxborro for the actual game. It isn't that big of a deal but it's kind of fun to be right there in the city when the game is over.
mo lester 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Nashville came up in conversation. Any quick insights? Other than the country stuff, how is that for a tourist city?
pingpong 0 Posted March 28, 2011 If you want the whole package, gotta go with the North East. Boston, Philly or NY. Great fan experience, which includes tailgating. Great eats, and great nightlife. No brainer.
patweisers44 760 Posted March 28, 2011 Dispel the homo rumors, show some sack, and vacation in Detroit. Stay downtown and you can catch a Lions game, Tigers (right next door to Ford Field), and you will be about an hour away from Ann Arbor for michigan football. MSU is more like 90 minutes plus from downtown.

MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted March 28, 2011 I am not sure what your other hobbies are, or how much time you are planning, but a trip to New Orleans would be atop my wishlist. You and your friends can rent a charter boat and head out for a day of deep sea fishing. Since the tourism industry has been wrecked due to the media overblowing the deepwater horizon incident you should be able to see New Orleans for cheaper than any other time in recent history. Old School 360 Posted March 28, 2011 Nashville came up in conversation. Any quick insights? Other than the country stuff, how is that for a tourist city? Parking at the stadium sucks. It's all by permit, and not enough parking to cover the crowd. Best action is to start your tailgate at a local bar and take their shuttle to the stadium across the river. Tailgating at the stadium is pretty cool, but you need to search ebay for a parking permit. NHL Hockey and minor league baseball. Downtown does rock. Broadway is made up of tons of bars/ bands with no cover charge. It's a good time just walking from club to club, having a beer and moving on to the next one. Some of the better blues/ rock clubs do have cover charges and there are some good ones including 3rd & Lindsley, BB Kings, Burbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar. Pretty damn good dining options- basically anything you'd be looking for. Bass fishing at Priest & Old Hickory lakes. Day trip to Jack Daniels distilery.
