mayaworld2u 0 Posted December 18, 2012 So last week I see that I made it to the championship game this Sunday but the Commissioner had not reset the new schedule. Anyway, we played the game and i came out on top once again. To my surprise, this week i find myself in the "championship game" and suspect because the commish has enough points(played someone else and lost first week) for two weeks to justify his second seeding. UNREAL! I'm beyond upset since i saw this past weekend was supposed to be the last one( ESPN) and now i find myself conflicted. I have benched all my players and wondering if anything can be done. Has anyone heard of "two consecutive" week total and one format? I'm thinking of just dropping all players and benching the ones I can't drop.
DrMantisToboggan 5 Posted December 18, 2012 havent heard of this but i think it would be a better representation of the better team to have a total point super bowl. would eliminate some of the randomness also rewards the better drafters and harder workers. The Next Generation 10 Posted December 19, 2012 Yup, I do it my work league and have been doing it that way for a looong time. It's fun, it's fair, and everyone seems to like it. The work league is where I don't take the league quite as seriously since the owners aren't nearly as hard core as the regular leagues. ETA: I'm not exactly sure what's going on in your league, but in my work league it's a 2-week cumulative SB covering weeks 16 and 17. It is spelled-out in the rules, we've been doing it this way for over 10 years and I communicate to everyone so no one is surprised (since there some turnover in the work league from year to year). WR Guru 31 Posted December 21, 2012 My league used to do the combined week 16/17 fantasy bowl for a number years. After a while though, it seemed that week 17 was just becoming too erratic with players in meaningless games either not playing at all or only playing partial games, like it was preseason. Some years are worse than others with that crap, but it no longer seemed fair to factor in such a week as even a half of the championship matchup, so we dropped it altogether about 8 years ago. I'm still amazes when I hear of leagues that use week 17 as their championship week.
joelmrut 4 Posted December 21, 2012 I'm still amazes when I hear of leagues that use week 17 as their championship week. It still amazes me that people don't play in week 17. Why? Because three maybe four NFL teams rest players? And that just completely decimates two fantasy rosters? Please.

Did you not read the league rules and playoff format before the season?
TheUsualSuspect 207 Posted December 22, 2012 Don't hate it... And its fantasy football so any league can and should set their settings however you like and agree upon prior to the season starting. With that said, I have always been a fan and proponent to the idea of "Any Given Sunday", not Sunday(s).

WR Guru 31 Posted December 23, 2012 It still amazes me that people don't play in week 17. Why? Because three maybe four NFL teams rest players? And that just completely decimates two fantasy rosters? Please. Sometimes week 17 is okay, but the years when it's not okay can turn your fantasy bowl into a farce. Not worth the risk. That's why probably 90% of veteran leagues throw it out. We were finally prompted to make the change after a year in which a team had 5 key guys rested (2 didn't play at all, 3 played sparingly) on week 17 because their teams were locked in to their playoff spots. That's an extreme example, but every few years or so there is a bad week 17 with multiple stars getting rested.
