NHL Draft

Red Wings dont usually do well in the First round, regardless of where they pick from. For some reason they dominate after the first couple rounds though.

interesting to see who goes #1. I think the safe pick (and the one i would make) is Seth Jones.

Avs have said they aren't drafting a d-man so that pick will have to be traded for Jones to go first.

I cant stand Patrick Roy (sorry, Wings fan) and wouldnt trust a word that comes out of his mouth. As a GM why would you divulge that?

I think I've heard that the general consensus is Nathan MacKinnon will be going to the Avs with the first pick and, given that, Calgary is interested in trading up to #2 to bag Jones, whom they covet.

As for the B's, there are rumours that Ference will not be re-signed, and that Peverley and Boychuk are on the trading block. I don't mind losing the first two (though I do like Peverley's speed and versatility), but I'd hate to see Boychuk go. Big shot, big hitter, and always skating his a$$ off.

From the Avs standpoint, why would you put that out there though? Make it so Calgary thinks it has to come to you to get Jones.

Because Patrick Roy, in an attempt to massage his massive ego, says whatever he deems necessary to get the media spotlight on him? :dunno:

I'm guessing that the Avs do like MacKinnon, who would not slide past Florida at #2 if they traded their #1 pick to Calgary.

Sakic has been saying it too, not just Roy. And I heard someone else in their organization saying it as well. Unless they're throwing up a massive smokescreen, he'll be the first pick.

Ference and Jagr are not being re-signed (Pandolfo, too). Peverly is not worth it. He has all of the speed in the world, but terrible hands. Kelly is another bit part that they might look to do something with. He was not the same player after the broken leg, so I would guess that they keep hiim for his versatility.

The Bruins want to get faster on the blue line, so either Boychuk or McQuaid are candidates to be moved, with Boychuk having more value on the market. Then you have Bartkowski, Krug and Hamilton playing more on D. They need their speed and, with their current cap situation, they need less expensive players back there.

Tuukka and Horton are the 2 big ones to get signed.

With Horton seemingly gone, why would the Bs consider trading Seguin? Is there something wrong with him? He's still awfully young.

seguin sucks

He's 21 I think and I would take him in a heart beat but I'm sure Bawston is asking for a truckload to unload him.

Tyler is scheduled to make $5.75M for the next 6 years

That's a bad contract. If Bostons GM is asking for a lot there will be no takers

In another year or two, that contract (and having him locked up for a few more years) will be considered the steal of the century.
