Bobby Rainey

Recommended Posts

Whoever took him over Leonard made the right move. He's the TB RB to own.

Could just be a one week wonder since their schedule is rough from here on out, but Rainey's performance today makes that waiver claim promising for anyone that took a chance (not me).

When given the choice late in the season in FF, always take upside.

Grabbed him in 2 of 3. Started in 1. Blowing up on bench in other.

Had priority and took him over Leonard btw.

I picked up Ingram instead of Rainey. Guy I'm playing today picked up Rainey but thankfully on his bench.

This shows how stupid Cleveland still is, they cut Rainey to keep starting old worthless McGahee.

I picked him up and put him on my inactive developmental squad. Kept Donald Brown and Delanie Walker on my bench on that same squad. Jeez, those points are really doing me a lot of good.

I think lost in all of this fluff is the fact Tampa's offensive line has been playing lights out last few weeks. On that 43 yarder sure Rainey showed some quicks, but damn it he wasn't even touched till he got 2-3 yards beyond the line. They downright mauled on that play. Also give Schiano some credit for going with the fullback in the backfield, which is critical to a successful running game in my opinion.

Glass half full here is Doug Martin owners have some hope for next season.

I dont know if this is good news. The Bucs should take after some of the better offenses in the league and use a rbbc approach. Split up carries with martin, rainey, smith, especially since it seems martin isnt as good as everyone had hoped.

Well to be fair that offense was in turmoil early in the season. Lost in this has also been the play of the kid Glennon. He has settled in pretty fairly, and isn't killing his team like other young QB's are ie. Ponder, Geno Smith, Clemens etc. This is Martin's show, with maybe James and Leonard backing him up, and he'll be a value pick next year.

atlanta would make any back look good....Rainey will not even come close to those #'s again this year.

I agree; the Bucs are facing some good defenses for the remainder of their schedule, and I wouldn't be surprised if Rainey only sees the end zone again maybe one more time. I think he's a good sell high.

He's a solid Rb and has Detroit next. 100 n a TD isn't ridiculous to expect.

I have to start him this week or SJax :(

I don't think 100 and a TD is likely against the Lions tough run D, that would be awesome though.

The Lions overall run D has been solid but they tend to give up big plays 2-4.times a game. Rainey is a big boom type Rb.

I see him getting a long 40 ish yarder followed by a bunch of two n three yard Gains. TB is hot right now and Detroit just had a big let down.

Typically the Lions don't respond well. I think you have two teams going in opposite directions right now. We will see

I had him in my flex for wk12 but just benched for Boykin.

Detroit run D last 5:

92 carries, 231 yds (2.5 ypc), 0 TD. Faced some bad RBs over that time (Cleveland, Dallas without Demarco), but Forte/Gio/Le'veon were all held in check.

The silver lining is they have given up 2 receiving TDs to RB (Ogbonnaya and Will Johnson) and Le'veon and Ogbonnaya each went over 50yds receiving. Forte was held to 4-16 and Gio held to 5-32 receiving. The long run to a RB in those 92 carries was 13 yards by Le'veon, though Travis Benjamin did break off a 45 yarder. In the CLE game, Rainey had 1 carry for 0 yds over that span, not that it matters.

I would love to start him coming off that huge game on my bench, but I don't think this is a very good matchup. Looks like anything Rainey gets will need to be through the air.

Miami has a solid defense and he looked good against them in limited work too. The stats don't necessarily tell the entire story. Besides Forte the Lions haven't seen much talent in the way of running backs.

Lacey maybe... But benard has been all over the map and inconsistent. Too early to call him "good"

Over the last 4 games Miami has allowed 120 carries/589 yds (4.9ypc)/5 TD to NE/CIN/TB/SD backs. Ridley/Gio/Rainey/Mike James and Ry Mathews each averaged more than 5ypc in that time.

I hope Rainey is legit, he could be this years version of 2010 Jamaal Charles/Jerome Harrison out of nowhere RB that has a big playoff impact, but I am tempering my expectations until I see some more.

Sorry I can't get glassy eyed about this kid... He's basically a plumber running behind an offensive line that is just friggin mauling right now. THERE's your match-up for the weekend, Tampa O-Line vs. Lions D Line. Still sick as if Mike James had not gone down I'd have my conference wrapped up with a first round bye and the Aaron Rodgers injury would have minimal effects. James may have rushed for 200 yards last week with the holes Rainey was getting. But having said all that I agree with 100 yds 1 TD prognosis. Very possible.

How long before he becomes Bryce Brown? A few good games before the defense figure him out.

Figure him out? He runs. They tackle. Figured out.

That said. While I have him his Matchups are brutal so expectations are lowered. He's only starting for me in my 14 teamer.

I don't do predictions normally but 20 carries for 90-110 and a td is my prediction. He's a fast compact guy like rice and he's got a chip on his shoulder

i dont do predictions normally either but 15 carries for 45-60 and 0 td's he's a shrimp & one good pop will be seeing stars & counting sheep

w/ that said i still like the guy & would compare him to jaquizz rodgers

He's 218lbs. That's bigger than a bunch of so called studs. At 5ft 8in 218 us a bulldozer. He's NOT small just Cuz he's short.

He's built almost identical to zack Stacy except he's faster.

You do realize that Detroit is one of the toughest Run Defenses in the league right????????

Over the recent three-game stretch, Detroit ranks second in the NFL, allowing opponents to gain an average of just 46.7 yards on the ground.

No RB has gained over 100 yards against Detroit.....

JUST SAYING!

Very deceiving numbers. Check the passing numbers. Teams pass on them Cuz they can't stop a dead 80 year old against the pass. So why run?

You can manipulate the numbers to prove any point depending on your point.

I'm a detroiter I see more than the final stats.

1.9 yds a carry, in line with what DET has been doing to RBs lately. As a Rainey owner I am encouraged that the touches didn't dry up. However, CAR/BUF/SF/STL is a tough road.
