Anyone signing Burelson this week?

Recommended Posts

I play in a ppr league and was tinkering around with the ideal of signing Nate Burelson. I could really use this week as my flex starter. I was wondering if anyone would start him as well?

I think he's worth a shot in a PPR league if you don't have to drop a productive player for him. He's going to be the #2/slot receiver on the 3rd best passing offense in the NFL. He should get plenty of looks since other teams pay so much attention to Megatron.

A big HELL YES to this question, especially this week! Mega is probably immune to Revis, but will be at least slowed, meaning Stafford will have to throw somewhere. Some no-name Dolphin slot receiver torched the Bucs for 2 TD's and a hundred two weeks ago; another mediocre slot got them for a nice day last Sunday. This week's winner in the Buc slot receiver sweepstakes = Nate Burleson.

Disclaimer: I have A.J. Green & Giovanni Bernard on bye, so I need Nate to come up big for me; I've been sitting on him for a couple weeks (14 team league leaves little waiver wire fodder) hoping he'd be ready to go in week 12...

Burl will be a WR2-3 the rest of the year. Get while you can.

Yes. He is an upgrade to the worst receiver on my bench.

Durham sucks. Lions need pre-pizza Nate. He's been practicing for two weeks and looks good to go. He's going to get you 60-100 yds and with the chance of a TD.

I'm going to be honest.....I hope his entire career is defined by pre and post pizza Nate.

If Moore is a no go, I'll go with Burleson! Don't know if he'll last til the final report though :/

i dropped Hopkins for him. Doubt he will play over Welker, Cruz, Gordon unless an injury but he is decent insurance as a WR3/4

Dont expect huge numbers though. We have been fooled by Nate a number of times in the past

Ike Taylor couldnt slow him while he went and shut down Moore, Smith, Hill, Jennings(40 yards but two Tds), Marshall, Green, and Britt(who at the time was the no.1). Megatron has also burned through the likes of Peterson, Hall, and Tilman this year.

Did Ike Taylor, Patrick Peterson, Leon Hall or Peanut Tillman get traded to the Bucs this week while I was working? If not, I fail to see what they have to do with Revis versus Calvin or three straight slot receivers having nice games versus Tampa Bay.

CJ will definitely get his numbers, but I believe there's enough to go around for Burleson to shine this week. Looking forward to Thanksgiving, the Packers defensive backfield is in a shambles, with a rookie slot corner (Micah Hyde) suffering hamstring issues. Call me crazy, but I think Nate's in line for two big stat lines in five days!

Disclaimer: I'm a Packer fan so I want the Lions to do poorly; also, I don't really "need" Burleson to do well - I just think he's going to and is definitely worth a waiver wire pickup. I LOVE #2 WR's on high-powered passing offenses that are battling for playoff position and have inserted them successfully into my lineups for years. Nate has fresh legs and no bumps or bruises...

Normally I wouldn't pay too much attention to Burleson, but I can't ignore the matchup this week. Tampa has been eaten alive by slot receivers. Definitely a nice plug-n-play this week considering the scraps that are left on the waiver wire at this point.

I can see that game becoming somewhat of a shootout with two defenses that can't really stop anybody.

I agree with this completely, and its why I picked up Nate from waivers this week. But its just too risky. His injury isn't like a hamstring or a high-ankle sprain that could impede his ability even after he's "healthy", but its hard to know how he is going to gel with an offense thats been rolling without him for this long. Its a boom or bust play, and I'm going with a safer flex because I'm a poosay.

Oh, for sure, he's entirely capable of 2 catches for 20 yards. I was just thinking that, for anyone who needs a plug-n-play because of injuries or byes, and considering how little is probably left on the wire at this point, Burleson is a good dice roll.

Sure wish I would have started him over Roddy.......had it not been a Thursday game for White, I would have rolled with Burl after the good late-week practice reports.
