H-man 12 Posted September 13, 2014 How about re-drafts?
Flgatorguy87 160 Posted September 13, 2014 Ours is only a 2 man keeper. Mostly redraft format because you can only keep players taken below the 6th round. It's also an 18 man roster. I can't tell you if he's worth your roster. I added him because finding a RB that gives you much of anything is impossible in our leagues. If you need a possible homerun then he might be worth it. I'd say 0 chance in 10 teamers unless your team really blows, but I doubt he is going to save it if that's the case.
dehaven123 31 Posted September 13, 2014 sure, man. no prob w/ him as an add in 12tm ppr leagues. i recommend it.
envoy9 5 Posted September 13, 2014 Depends on your roster space. I grabbed both him and Asiata when the news broke. For now I can roster both, but when bye weeks start I'll have to make a decision. If you can, get both and see what happens on Sunday....
kilroy69 1,214 Posted September 13, 2014 like i mentioned before his sparq score was the best for running backs in 16 years. If they give him the ball he would be great in that system.

And yet he went in the end of the 3rd round in the NFL draft, speaks to how poor his intangibles must be if he's the best athlete to come around in a while. Seems like a major "work in progress". hotgumbo1 12 Posted September 13, 2014 who gives a crap about sparq scores! He is behind Asiata for more reasons than one.

Joey Gladstone 33 Posted September 13, 2014 I've just spent the past hour reading about what a freak McKinnon is. I would love to add him (10 team league this year) but I don't want to drop my 5th back (Crowell). If he wasn't locked onto my roster after the game Thursday, I would definitely drop Pitta just to take a chance on him (I also have Ertz). I love gambling on talent. Niner49er 6 Posted September 13, 2014 McKinnon is a risk just like I take a risk every time I go outside that I'll get hit by lightning. It costs you a bench spot on your fantasy roster, man. The only argument you can make for risk, that is valid in this instance, is the opportunity cost of adding McKinnon since it costs you nothing else to pick him up unless you're in a FAAB. Now, this varies from league to league... but if you're in a competitive 12 team league, you're typically wrestling between adding McKinnon and the Jonathan Dwyer's of the world. I'll take McKinnon's upside every time and sleep soundly.

Niner49er 6 Posted September 13, 2014 Once he gets his chance he'll be hitting the holes harder than AP eats his kids and RR hits his wife. He'll be turning the corner faster than Ryan Leaf running from polices after burgularizing his neighbourhood. He'll be calmer making blocks during the pass rush than Ricky Williams and Josh Gordon after lighting up a bowl.

I am currently own McKinnon but have Crowell and Latavius Murray from OAK available. They are all the same type of high upside freakish athlete type players who could break out given the chance. I can't figure out which one I like the most out of the bunch though.

You may catch lightning in a bottle with a play or two, but the kid is nowhere ready to put in any consistent time at tailback in this league.

Skinny_Bastard 157 Posted September 14, 2014 Tiny hands... "The new kid, Jerick McKinnon, is listed as third on the depth chart, but may see more snaps than Asiata because of the coaches' focus on situational packages. Aside from a first day drop, I saw very little that implied that McKinnon would necessarily be a poor pass catcher. Despite tiny hands that were possibly the smallest at the combine (8 5/8", as opposed to the average receivers' 9 1/2"a huge difference), he's been able to reel the ball in. dehaven123 31 Posted September 14, 2014 25 roster spots! You probably have space for my mother too. if i remember correctly, ur mom would take up 3 roster spots alone. definitely need 30 roster spots to consider her for an add. however, she'd be great n that new format, ppr. pounds per reception. Gepetto 1,284 Posted September 14, 2014 25 roster spots! You probably have space for my mother too. It's actually less total players rostered than a 12 team league with 18 roster spots. It wasn't an easy decision. I had to cut Robert Woods who I like a lot. I drafted and am holding Blake Bortles too.

Seems like a major "work in progress". I don't understand your rational that he has must have poor "intangibles" because in went late in the 3rd round (of a deep draft). You could just as easily argue the Vikings drafting him that high with ADP in fold Is a positive. Considering the recent "devaluation" of RBs in the NFL Draft, there is nothing negative with being a 3rd round pick. McKinnon went two picks after Terrence West. Athletically, he is off the charts. I am excited to see him get some opportunity today. He is raw as a RB as he converted from a QB as a college junior. For the record, Cordarelle Patterson was considered raw as a WR last year. McKinnon could also be used as a defensive back or on special teams. Like many rookie RBs, I would expect him to struggle in pass protection. If I had to take a Minny back for immediacy it would be Asiata but, for dynasty, it would be McKinnon. Is he a "work in process"? Sure, so is every rookie RB. If you only play redraft, guys like this wouldn't interest you...
