PlsWinByTwo 1 Posted October 1, 2014 Ok. So as my sig says I'm in a 12 team league. It's supposed to be a casual league where a bunch of people who know each other engage in some healthy competition. Some of the players do not know much about football and this is their first time in a league. Now I'm going to give you a summary of what has been going on and you guys tell me if this isn't shady/fishy AND/OR just plain wrong. Team Owner A - League Commissioner (3-1) Team Owner B (2-2) and not in the same division as A (first timer) Team Owner C (0-4) and not in same division as A (first timer) Recent League Activity Sep 30 10:16 PM (By LM) Team B traded Bengals D/ST, Cin to Team A Team A traded Eddie Royal, SD to Team B Sep 30 9:51 PM Team B dropped Justin Hunter, Ten to W Sep 30 9:50 PM Team B dropped Kirk Cousins, Wsh to W Sep 30 9:47 PM Trade Accepted Team B traded Bengals D/ST, Cin to Team A Team A traded Eddie Royal, SD to Team B I find it very odd that Team B completed two drops without an add (an obvious mistake only a first timer makes) and figure they are going to be making claims on the waiver wire tonight. That's all well and good, but then I have a discussion with Team Owner C.who is first on the waiver order and she mentions to me that Team Owner A told her who to claim this week to "help her out." Turns out Team A told Team C to claim: 1) RB CAR Darrin Reaves & 2) Chicago Bears D/ST This just seems absurd to me. Why suggest a running back who is more than likely a one week play, who is probably 4th on the depth chart and THEN on top of that play that team's opposing defense. That's right, Carolina is playing Chicago this week. Team Owner C didn't realize this nor does she know a helluva a lot about football or how these things work and is just desperate for a win, so she listened to him and put the claims in. I told her what I think is really going on and she cancelled the claims. I don't feel I'm crazy to assume that as a part of the trade that was made, Team A said that he would help Team B with a waiver claim to even out the trade and ensure that Team C didn't get that player. How plausible do you think all of this is? I just can't believe this is going on with people I know and they would potentially stoop to this level. Is this crossing the line? I feel like this is as dirty as it gets. I think I'm ready to boycott the league and just wanted to know what any of you would do. Team Owner A is the commissioner. PlsWinByTwo 1 Posted October 1, 2014 That's the old husband and wife thing going there You'd think they were, but they're not. The commissioner has a side bet with someone else in the league that if he loses to him, he has to do something really absurd and I think that might be part of the reason why he's playing so dirty. The $ in the prize pool isn't really significant.

Giants Fan 85 Posted October 1, 2014 Nothing will kill a league faster than having a woman in it. True that. One year I was in a league where this guys gf waived someone "on accident" for a defense, and then he messages the whole league, "nobody pick him up" but she proceeds to put the defense in her starting lineup. I have the first place team and make a joke that I would also like to "accidentally waive someone" ... and guess who's the bad guy? The guy freaks, says I was attacking his gf, and threatens to beat me up. Everyone hates me because I am crushing them, so they all side with him.

southcarolina 166 Posted October 1, 2014 Then you haven't been paying attention. Most of my adult life has been defined by my acute lack of attention span. True story.
Giants Fan 85 Posted October 1, 2014 Just fyi, back in the day, when Ditka mortgaged the Saints for Ricky Williams, I started a thread titled "Ricky Williams will be a bust!" Hilarity ensued.

I believe that. One time on a RedSox bored, i posted that Manny Ramirez was tanking the next pitch over the Green Monster, and it happened. It was kind of spooky. phillygrrl08 139 Posted October 1, 2014 Nothing will kill a league faster than having a woman in it. Wait a minute, how come the male commish isn't considered the league killer in this situation? He is the one behaving badly. Do the woman in this league have to dress in unflattering clothes head to toe so as to not arouse the men in the league? Do the woman in this league have to dress in unflattering clothes head to toe so as to not arouse the men in the league? I was just trying to get a rise out of OldMaid, cuz she and i are in a FFT based league together, and she claims to be female.. I didnt know there were other wimminz on this site. My apologies. I even penned her team name last year.... SheCouldGoHallTheWay. Its hilarious, if you knew anything about the Geek Asylum.

phillygrrl08 139 Posted October 1, 2014 Got it now, although the sexism in here sometimes does run rampant. Gotta be thick skinned to be a female in here at times.

Dueces Will Be Wild 15 Posted October 1, 2014 How is giving advice dirty? I would say the real issue is having an owner that doesn't know much about football and can't think for his/herself. Last year Foles had been dropped in my 2QB league when Vick came back for a short time. Foles took the job back one week and would have fit my main competition's team perfectly. That Monday or Tuesday I sent an email to another owner that needed a QB, had a higher waiver priority, and was losing telling him to put in a claim for Foles. I didn't feel bad about that at all. Of course the retard didn't do it, my main competition ended up getting him and I ended up losing to him in the championship...

Einstein's Dog 20 Posted October 1, 2014 There's 4 in this one. Anyway, what would you do if you were me? So there are 4 women, several first timers, in a casual league of friends. This one is real easy, keep your piehole shut. Are you seriously worried about some newbies and their waiver wire fodder exploits. It shouldn't matter. Any comments, complaints or other such whining will make you look like a grade-A over zealous, over competitive, jackwagon. Say nothing and never speak of this again.
