Snowmageddon

Recommended Posts

I have another phone meeting coming up, but I have to go outside and try and clear some of this snow before it gets out of control. I can't open my front door because the snow is too high against it. I might have to dig a tunnel.

One might argue that it is already out of control. :dunno:

Weather guys are out there apologizing for getting it wrong. They have real-time info with all their fancy, whiz-bang radars and they still get it wrong.

And we are suppose to believe these same guys when they tell us it will be 1/2 of 1 degree warmer 100 years from now.

Nah. I went out and cleared 90% of the driveway, the front walk and a path for the dog. We have about 28" at this point, which is a pain because there are drifts that make it higher and my snowblower is 24" high. It is the light, fluffy stuff though.

Once it calms down a bit more (it is still snowing), I will get the end of the driveway, which has about 5' of snow from the plows. You don't want to clear that too soon or they plow it all back in the next time they go through.

I have to help my son do the neighbors' too.

Snow days and hurricane days are awesome, enjoy it

I don't know how to deal with snow. The most I've ever seen here is three inches. The whole city shuts down when that happens. They shut down over passes and bridges here because nobody knows how to drive in it. Can't imagine what twoo feet of snow is like.

We don't mind. Unlike Texas poosays who can't deal with snow EVAH!

in fairness, Texas has some of the most insane, tallest, steepest, overpasses in the entire f****** world. They are like god damn looge runs on a dry day. I can't even imagine approaching them on an even mildly icy day.

They just don't have the equipment to handle it,

Most I've been in was over three feet in Illinois, just like a hurricane where you have no water or electricity, but at least in a hurricane you have a couple more days notice.

So, we are winding down with 33" of snow. No big deal, but the kids have no school of tomorrow. I will probably work from home, but all will be back to normal in Thursday.

I think the folks in Western NY have it worse normally.

I haven't had it bad personally but Buffalo was terrible the beginning of November. 6-7 feet :shocking:

Exactly. Those folks call us poosays when we get 3 feet. You play the cards you are dealt.

You ever had to file an insurance claim because of snow fall/blizzards?

No, but I think that I have had one insurance claim for my cars and home in total in the last 20 years. I have been lucky (knocks on wood).

In a unrelated snow note, it's supposed to rain a lot Friday and Saturday in Arizona during the golf tourney. Wtf, I thought it never rains out there? Maybe JK can elaborate.

I remember they had the match play out there a few years back and got snow for that.

I have a buddy who lived in downtown Buffalo and moved to one of the hardest hit areas 3 weeks before they got crushed with that storm in November. He was stranded in his house for 4 days, had 15 feet of snow on his car and it was damaged when he was finally able to dig it out.

Not that he could've know but he couldn't have moved at a worst time. Downtown hardly got a dusting during that storm. :(

Was great having yesterday off and coming in late today.

However, the work moving the snow made it not worth it.

I'm sore as hell today... The gimpy azz snowblower i bought from my FIL is a piece of #@%$@#... Had a snow drift on my deck that got up to the top of the railing, path for the dog, and driveway & walkway...

Had 2 2-hr shoveling sessions and then a minor one this morning before work.

I did get pretty drunk all day which was good.

Funny you should ask. My wife and I for over a decade have joked that from October to April we have perfect weather... except for the week of the Phoenix Open (which is always SB week), where we always get some combo of rain/freeze/frost. It doesn't stop 100K+ per day people going out, possibly because of the copious amount of liquor people consume at the event. We're not really religious but it is clear that God hates the Phoenix Open, probably a Sodom and Gomorrah kinda thing. :dunno:

So many low t cucks can’t shovel their own snow or cut their own lawn but they can grill.  Very masculine.

My brother in laws son in law refuses to cut his own lawn saying he "cut lawns in college" he is EVERYTHING people hate about Gen Z.

We got rain over the weekend.  Temperature is set to be in the mid 40's and 50's this week, so no snow... but more rain on the way.

Not much here in the way of snow.  Temps have been fluctuating with mixes of snow rain.  A dusting thr next few days.  But the wind is strong.  20-30mph next few days.   I don't care for wind.   Starting around Sunday the temps go into the teens for days with some wind.  Give me 28 and a bunch of snow over wind and cold temps.

Lots of snow in the mountains, in a six hour window, we had 9 inches of snow on the valley floor, the night time/ early morning temps have been 12-14 degrees, highs have been low 30es.  January/February the two coldest months for Reno.  But the skiing is going to be fun times.  Thank you Jesus
