Fireballer 2,639 Posted December 24, 2018 The wife and I usually spend the 23rd finishing up wrapping, etc. She breaks out the wine, and I break out the Wild Turkey 101. I was getting nostalgic and playing some old favorites. In no particular order...my Top 5. These remind me the most of being a kid and before my Pops died. Yes, Im feeling warm from Wild Turkey. jerryskids 6,529 Posted December 24, 2018 In no particular order: O Holy Night: possibly my most emotional song. Mr. Snee sung this as a solo every year at midnight mass. As he got older, it got harder and harder for him to hit that high note at the end. I'm not sure I've rooted for anything more strongly than for him to nail the fock out of that note. Josh Grobin version: Carol of the Bells. Pentatonix version: Mary did you Know? Obscure song, also Pentatonix:
vuduchile 1,945 Posted December 24, 2018 This year , its Christmas in Sarjevo/Carol of the Bells by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It was our opening song at the concert tonight and we nailed it. Its not unusual for someone to have a minor screw up somewhere in a a song like this. But tonight three guitars, a piano player, a bassist and a drummer all played flawlessly with perfect timing. It was so electrifying it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Have you ever seen TSO in concert? If not you should some year, they put on quite a show.
jerryskids 6,529 Posted December 24, 2018 Also regarding Carol of the Bells, my emotional attachment is that my daughter was in her HS choir, and every year for their Christmas show they would end with Carol of the Bells. Any choir alumni in the audience were invited up on stage to sing it with them. It was quite moving and the alums loved it.

wiffleball 4,788 Posted December 27, 2018 I'll Be Home for Christmas is great. Especially if you're about 90% towards pulling an Anthony Bourdain but just need that extra little holiday kick to get you all the way there.
MDC 7,094 Posted December 27, 2018 Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire by Nat KC is probably my favorite. Feliz Navidad is another.

wiffleball 4,788 Posted December 27, 2018 Ariana grande has a Christmas song where she spends most of it not wearing pants. I don't know what the lyrics are. I'm usually too busy wiping my hand made 'egg nog' off the couch.

jerryskids 6,529 Posted December 28, 2018 Love that song, probably my favorite from the pop/rock genre. Also I present Steve Martin and Paul Simon - Silver Bells. If you haven't heard it before make yourself go past the opening Simon singing to the part where Martin starts talking.
