Why do hard boiled eggs smell like farts?

Recommended Posts

Or better yet, why do farts smell like hard boiled eggs. I have 2 every morning at work for breakfast and someone always walks by or into my office and asks me if I farted.

Do you cool them in cold water immediately after they are done boiling? I find that cuts the smell way down. It could also be that I cook them in the Instapot instead of boiling them.

We put them in cold water after cooking them. Doesn't seem to help us.

and longer you wait to eat them the more they will smell. If you eat them regularly you should have figured this out by yourself.

The good news is that you're free to fart at will at work.  😏

Isn't cooling the eggs how everyone does it?

Egg substitute will give you sulfer farts so bad you can make a dog puke.

No. My wife never did it and I really didn't until recently. It coincided with using the pressure cooker to make a batch. In that "recipe" it said to put them in some ice water after they were done in the cooker. With both, the smell dropped significantly. :dunno:
