First I heard of them.  I remember those from about 20 years ago.  I'm a fan.  So are these new $1 coins normal legal tender, like I could use them for fast food without any trouble?

I was living in Canada when the loonie was introduced. People hated them. For good reason. Almost same size as a quarter. You basically had to look at them to see the difference as they were gold in color rather than silver.
