TommyGavin 790 Posted February 13, 2022 I never got around to read any of the Lee Child written Reacher books. I binged watched the series on Prime last night. Pretty good series. When I finish Vince Flynn books I might start Lee Child’s books. Seems to be similar characters (Jack/Mitch)
Djgb13 2,339 Posted February 13, 2022 From what I hear (never read the books either) it’s almost spot on to the books. Heard good things about it and recommended it to my dad. He loves it and said Tom Cruises Jack Reacher was a wuss compared to this one
DonS 3,291 Posted February 13, 2022 A friend of mine also recommended this show. Will add it to the queue.
TimmySmith 2,782 Posted February 13, 2022 Read 1 or 2 of them. Really liked the Tom Cruise film. Haven't started the series yet but am going to.

nobody 2,540 Posted February 13, 2022 This show couldn't be dumber, but it scratches the itch for mindless action and comedy.

MDC 7,099 Posted March 30, 2022 Just binge watched Season 1. It was ridiculous and awesome. My wife and I laughed through every episode. Loved it.

Bill E. 703 Posted March 30, 2022 Read most of them (20 or so.) Michael Connelly's Bosch books and Netflix series were 10X better. Read/watch those before Reacher books/series. Lee Child turned the book series over to his brother to write starting the 2020 book (Sentinel I think). It was readable until halfway through when we find that the villains killing people are Russian spies trying to acquire software so they can steal another presidential election. Of course the FBI turns to Jack Reacher for help. I stopped reading at that point and did not buy the next one. Now it seems even Reacher went woke. It got terrible reviews for writing/woke plot. Amazon's first 5000 reviews before the book came out were 4-5 stars then the readers starting leaving real review and it tanked. The first 20 or so books were pretty good though especially the earlier ones. The TV series is ok.

Haven't read the latest (saw it at the market) and didn't pick it up as the one before was not very good and the first I didn't really care for. (sorry can't remember the titles). Reacher had the potential of being a great movie franchise, but the 5-7 Tom Cruise was simply not believable as the 6-5, 220-to-250-pound Reacher. Alan Ritchson comes fairly close to how Reacher is portrayed in the books, but not as dark, cerebral and intimidating as I've pictured the character.

squistion 1,930 Posted March 10 This is the Jack Reacher I pictured from the books. Alan Ritchson seems to have grown into the role (maybe he started reading the books too).

Oh, yeah, I've seen interviews with on a couple of late night shows (Jimmy Kimmel and Colbert, I think, can't remember). He doesn't come across as a Rhodes Scholar or a MENSA member, but he seems a fairly intelligent guy.
