The Catholic church in Ottawa has quietly settled three child sexual abuse lawsuits involving notorious priest Dale Crampton, cancelling three separate jury trials that were scheduled to be heard in Ottawa this spring.

Two of the three plaintiffs alleged they were not only assaulted by Crampton, who killed himself in 2010, but also by his superior, auxiliary bishop John Beahen, at Crampton's cottage in West Carleton. Beahen died from a stroke in 1988.

This seems to be an opinion, not fact.  In the Daily Mail article, they said the prompts were handed out to students.  The USA Today article credits the Superintendent as saying they weren't.  Is there proof that one is right and the other is wrong?  On the surface between the two articles, it's basically "he said / she said".  The mayor says it was distributed to the kids, the SI says it wasn't.

May be purely coincidental, but said Superintendent resigned to apparently take a new job, just two months later.  "Health reasons", is stated as being the cause of said school board president, to resign 9 months after that.    From what I've read, the others are still in place, but the top 2 peeps in charge, left within 10 months of the article coming out.

Parish priest Michael Zacharias, 56, was convicted on five counts of sex trafficking by a federal jury in the Northern District of Ohio last Friday.

Zacharias has been on administrative leave from the Diocese of Toledo since he was arrested on Aug. 18, 2020. His crimes, committed between 1999 to 2020, involved three victims, two of whom were still minors when Zacharias began abusing them.

The former pastor now faces a minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison.
