nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 The coaches should just have one of the lineman false start on purpose in those 4th and 1 situations so they can kick the FG without everyone freaking out.
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 And now they kick the FG. Another game lost to the overeager 4th down tries.
AxeElf 787 Posted September 13, 2022 I just coined a new word -- "Broncofingers."
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 Let's see if two things happen: The Broncos continue to bring pressure as they did to start the 4th and rattle Geno If they do do that, will the Seahawks have adjusted while the Broncos drove?
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 Looks like Broncos decided not to bring pressure, but Seattle was expecting it... Roll out on first and a screen on second.
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 And Denver front 4 gets enough pressure to earn the offense the privilege of failing to score.
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 Here's the thing about going for it on 4th down. I get it. The math supposedly says it's worth some fraction of a point of added expected value, but it also adds variance to the result. And if you're the better team, don't add variance. The underdog needs variance. The better team just needs consistency.
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 What an effort play by Agent O!
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 Is the first down not indicated by the stick? Because that wasn't to the stick. And now Pete wastes a challenge\timeout challenging a spot.
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 I need to see a qb draw on this 3rd and 2 coming out of the 2 minute warning if Seattle is going to insist on spreading the defense all across the field.

Seems coaches call plays like it's a video game always going for it.
Vikings4ever 538 Posted September 13, 2022 How do you not call time out there?
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 Oh my god. They basically burn the entire clock and call timeout.
nobody 2,482 Posted September 13, 2022 I guess they're happy settling for a 64 yard FG miss.

Seems Russel Wilson coming to Denver was a bit over-hyped. I like the guy and he's definitely an upgrade over what Denver had. But his whole career always seemed to be playing by the seat of his pants. Somehow, he kept making broken plays work. He's been a decent runner, which is probably why his career high in passing yards is a messily 4,219 back in 2016. I just don't view him as the superstar player others do. Aside from Wilson, based on this game the team is horribly undisciplined getting really stupid penalties - taunting, delay of game, late hits... and that's on top of all the other penalties they racked up. The young rookie head coach probably has something to do with that. Throw in the fact that Denver plays in the toughest division in the NFL and it could be a very long year for Broncos fans. Losing to Geno Smith to start the year... ouch. Dumb clock management too
lod001 1,332 Posted September 13, 2022 Analytics!!!!!!!! Yeah great idea, go for it. Another game blown by analytics and they blew it twice.
Engorgeous George 1,850 Posted September 13, 2022 Two years ago Hacket was the offensive coordinator when they took the ball out of Rodgers hands for a F.G against Tampa Bay. Rodgers reacted by causing an off-season of drama and doubt. Last night Hacket again took the ball out of his franchise Q.B.'s hand. Again it went poorly.

I understand the rule…hold onto the ball and preserve points…I can’t really fault javonte too much…Glasnow has admitted that the play was changed to run at the line and he didn’t hear it and set up to pass block…that play was doomed…as soon as Williams tried to bounce off the guy that was already in the backfield as he took the handoff another defender was there too pop it…was more of a fluke/freak thing than a ball protection issue

Any coach that makes decisions like that deserves to lose. I just wonder what they said the % was for the 64 yard FG, whatever it was was too high. It was hilarious though, the Steelers kicked a FG on 4th and 2 Sunday, and one of ESPN's analytics writers posted that they made a major mistake that could cost them game. Their numbers said that kicking it instead of going for it lowered their chances of winning from something like 44.3% chance to 40.4 % chance to win. Of course they won.
