bjengel 0 Posted September 16, 2022 I currently have Cordarrelle Patterson as my RB3 (behind Dalvin Cook & Saquan Barkley) and I was just offered JK Dobbins straight up for Patterson. What are everybody's thoughts on them the rest of the season? Will Patterson wear down or will Allgeier start to steal more work from him as the season goes along? What are thoughts on Dobbins coming back from his injury - it was a pretty bad injury, will he be the same and what about Gus Edwards supposedly coming back in a few weeks possibly too, would he be looking at a timeshare and then how does Drake factor in to it all as well? Dobbins definitely has the better team around him and his schedule this year looks better also. Just looking for everybody's thoughts and which one everybody thinks will be the better bet the rest of the season, I'm really up in the air on this one. JT88-3013 12 Posted September 16, 2022 I would do it...Dobbins is the best Ravens back and is on the #1 rushing offense.

Sean Mooney 1,815 Posted September 16, 2022 Interesting question and I think it depends on league scoring. If it is a standard scoring league I would say Dobbins. If it is PPR it is Patterson. Because even if Patterson does gradually lose carries to Allegier he will still have a role in the passing game and can always be used as a slot receiver or in 2 back sets and sent out on pass patterns. So he might go from like 25 touches to 15, but 3-5 of them will be catches that could give him 30-40 yards which gives you anywhere from 4.5 to 6.5 points on top of the rushing. Thank you..... yeah - I probably should of mentioned that - our league scoring is 1/2 point ppr.

Ok...then yeah- it's close but it is Patterson. That would mean then the only way I would entertain the trade is to get an extra piece on top of it. But even then I'd probably stick with Patterson
weepaws 3,009 Posted September 16, 2022 I would take Dobbins and stop the foolishness. If the Falcons keep feeding Patterson like they did week one, he’s going to be retired by week six. Dobbins is the better, and will be the right pick. Good luck op.

Dobbins for Patterson is certainly tempting (Great expectations & all that) As a rule, I've always believed in not trying to fix something that isn't broken yet If you decide to keep Patterson, maybe you could drop a scrub (if you have one on your bench) & hedge your bet by picking up Allgeier in case CP does indeed breakdown ? Wouldn't help much to pick up Allgeier, what with the MVP runner-up of SuperBowl LIV backing up Patterson currently.

If Patterson keeps getting the amount of touches he did last Sunday, he’s going to break down. Dobbins is the easy pick here.

Just looking for everybody's thoughts and which one everybody thinks will be the better bet the rest of the season, I'm really up in the air on this one. here is the situation. Dobbins is coming back from a grade 3 ACL tear. He may not be up to 100% until next year. In a redraft its questionable whether you should make the deal because I dont think he runs to his potential until his injury fully heals next year. in a keeper/dynasty, he may be a nice investment. once he is up to 100% in time for the start of next season he will likely be a nice back to have and you will be getting him at less than his market value with this trade. weepaws 3,009 Posted September 16, 2022 I think once Dobbins hits the field he’s going to be ready.

Most likely, you're only going to see him on the field more often if/when Patterson goes down. + as someone has already mentioned, Damien Williams is waiting in the wings (although he only had two carries before injury last week and is out for a week 2)

Cordarrelle Patterson was last season and he was in week 1 as well True. but hes also 31 years old. he had a career year at the age of 30 last year. Rare feat. but I agree. he has more value if you think you can win today. but in keeper/dynasty you likely consider this trade because Dobbins has value next year and Beyond while Patterson is dicey. Pass catching Backs sometimes last beyond the age of 31 so it may be worth your while to hang onto him for this year only especially if you are a competitive team.....but in redraft, it is questionable whether Dobbins, a player recovering from ACL surgery, makes your team better. Not because of talent but because of the injury. Keep that in mind. Typically it is an 18 month recovery for RB's before they can play as well as they did before the injury. it can happen in 12 months, but I'd argue that is rare. Buyer beware is the theme here. Patterson's a rare specimen. It's not like he's been playing RB all this time and just broke out. He's been listed as a WR most of his career. Last season was the first time somebody regularly lined him up at RB and the results were pretty good. Makes you wonder what could have been had he always been a RB. Dobbins, he's in the show me stage. He's had a couple of seasons where he's supposed to have broken out and been the Ravens stud RB. For one reason or another, it just hasn't happened. That's a common theme though among fantasy RBs. Many of them never really hit their stride and only have minimal fantasy relevance before they're out. Add to that the Ravens haven't really had a steady RB since Ray Rice. Plus, any RB they have is gonna lose a lot of points on the ground to Lamar Jackson. Plus, coming off an ACL tear. I don't know, but to me, it's an easy choice. I'm not picking either of these guys thinking they're gonna blow up and put up Derrick Henry numbers. I'm hoping for a solid starting RB. That to me seems like it's Patterson.

Thats probably what happened there. though it could be a thing where he wore down as the season progressed.
JagFan 129 Posted September 17, 2022 Let’s stop the insanity. Patterson is on a bad team, and he’s going to wear down. Get Dobbins if you can. He’s going to be a league winner down the stretch.

AxeElf 787 Posted September 17, 2022 5 hours ago, polecatt said: When has Dobbins been a RB1? Irrelevant question to the topic at hand. You said that between Dobbins and Patterson, one had shown that he could be a RB1 and the other had not. Dobbins showed that he could be a RB1 in his rookie season, posting 6.0 yards per carry and scoring 9 TDs as the RB3 on his own team. He has also shown a propensity to get injured, and has not actually been a RB1 yet. Patterson has shown that he could be a RB1--for half a season--and then he apparently can't take the pounding any more. So it's kind of like both players have shown that they can be a RB1, and both players have shown that they cannot, so I wondered which one you considered which. That clears things up though; apparently you're on the losing side of this debate.
