The behind the line, 3 point shot in Basketball

Recommended Posts

When I was younger, I wanted to see some changes in professional / collegiate Sports.  One of which was the 3 point shot in Basketball.  I just thought it would be more fun.  Plus, it would change the game from BIG men scoring short easy baskets .. opening up the game to smaller, more talented Players.

I'm not so sure that I still feel the same way.  I've just started thinking otherwise.  And it has nothing to do with Labron overtaking Kareem in NBA all time scoring record.

I'd would like to know if ANYBODY here feels the same way / or not.  Jw.

I believe the lane should be widened, traveling and palming the ball/double dribbling ought to start getting enforced, again.  I don't want to hear about the euro-step or a guys great handle or crossover move when they are both illegal under the rules 9 times out of 10.  I also think the three point line should have a zone beyond which it expires.  Beyond half court the basket is luck and should not count for three.  I also believe if a player speaks to a ref other than during a called team time out it should be a technical.  I am tired of the bitching. I believe the number of timeouts to each team ought to be reduced by two each half.  Basketball ought to be a game of flow, the number of time outs is excessive.  I know the league loves it for revenue reasons, but the nature of the game is flow.  Finally, flops should be a triple technical and the player and his coach ought to be tossed from the game and the owner ought to be forced to leave their box and sit with the unwashed fans for the duration of the game.  Finally team cheerleaders ought to be forced to pleasure old, homely, misogynistic fans from the opposing team who have traveled to the home team's place to see a game.

It has killed the game...  It really isn't smart basketball when a team is on a 3-on-1 fast break and they stop and shoot a three instead of taking the easy two points...  Yes I know that they have the rebounding advantage, but that isn't the scoring advantage...

Plus a team putting up 30+ three-point shots a night just makes the game more boring...

I have no issues with the 3 point shot.  I have a LOT of issues with the newer defensive rules that prevent perimeter players from..............playing defense.   Combine a shot that most NBA players can make nowadays with not being able to get anywhere near them without being called for a foul, and you have the joke that is the current NBA.  That being said, watching great passing teams like GS in their heyday a few years ago or the current Nuggets is still fun to watch, and about the only NBA I watch any more.

Needs to be moved back again.  Should be a 25% shot.

I'm surprised it's as low as it is.  I used to play a lot, many times in ghetto areas with thugs. Some of those dudes almost never missed 3 pointers, and they were just idiots off the street.

If I didn't know better, I would've guessed a good 3 point percentage among professionals who get paid multi-millions was 80%+-.

Not even close. :dunno:

You can't move it back any further on the sides...

What if they bring done coaching decisions into it, limit the amount of threes teams are allowed to attempt per qtr.
