Hawkeye21 2,333 Posted April 17, 2023 Spring in Iowa is trash. A few weeks ago we had sirens going off and tornadoes in the area. It was 80 all last week. On Saturday there weren't any big storms but my tree got hit by lightning. Yesterday we got about 2" of snow. I have my first kayak bass tournament of the season this weekend and I have no idea what to expect.
patweisers44 806 Posted April 17, 2023 There's an old joke about Michigan (probably a few other states as well) being a place where you can experience all four seasons in one week. 84 last friday Cold november rain yesterday 30s and snow today I am sure we had a day of Spring in there somewhere. easilyscan 809 Posted July 29, 2023 A derecho style storm that came through around 12:15 AM Friday. Lots of horizontal rain. The highest gust reported was 90 mph. Gave me a whole new level of respect for people that have to live through hurricanes. The roar from the wind & constant thunder was the worst part of it. Not easy to see, but there's debris being thrown against the side of the building across the street in the last clip. Same story here in south central Minnesota. I have to mow a huge lawn for someone. Only had to do that 3 times total last year. I've already mowed 6 times this year & it needs it again but it's too wet! Amazing how a slight difference in the jet stream's location can change a summer from droughts, to flooding. The Mississippi River had been crazy low. Even a bunch of the lakes we fish around Alexandria were pretty low.

easilyscan 809 Posted August 28, 2024 Monday, August 26 NW Of Mankato Minnesota. Even though there wasn't a tornado, this is my best video to date to show what's going on directly beneath a rotating wall cloud/supercell. This is the second time in August that I've been very close to the updraft/mesocyclone area of a supercell. The truck that passes to my right @ 1:42 is a fellow storm chaser who stopped and filmed behind me. There were two others as well.

Then you get one last blizzard and a week later it's 80 and basically summer.

jerryskids 6,472 Posted Tuesday at 03:24 PM High of 71 here in Phoenix today, with winds picking up in the afternoon. Cooling off into the mid 60s until the weekend.
