What is your go to yardwork music?

Recommended Posts

Glorious weekend in PNW so did a sh1t ton of yardwork.

What is your go to music for spending hours in the yard doing landscaping and other work?

For me it's TOOL.  Had them on shuffle while spreading bark and planting.   I looked up to see my wife giving me a weird look.  I can't help it if I sometimes break out the Maynard dance during songs like Jambi. 😢

My yard work only takes about 10 to 15 minutes usually so no music. When doing dishes I like me some Johnny Duncan to jam too. I listen to heavier stuff on my gym workouts.

I hear ya.  Our front yard is tiny, but our backyard is completely landscaped with retaining walls.  Every year or so I'll spend the weekend putting out new mulch.

Love spreading bark.  Focking hate weeding.

None. Nature is my yardwork soundtrack.

I don’t think the hired help listens to any…

Fair enough.   So what do you listen to while cruising the Home Depot parking lot looking for "the help"?

Genesis?

Agree with rusty for once.  Nothing.  I am not one of those people that need music in ear 24 7.

Oldies.  I'm a big fan of music from the 50's and 60's when I'm outside working.  Classic rock from the 70's is great too.

I have a massive 60's/70's reggae collection, so I usually will listen to a playlist from that.

Library shuffle - I thought it was funny that when I was planting Tulips last year, I had a string of Metallica playing---didn't seem very gardeny

When it's just me, I'll grind on some podcasts.  If we're talking spring clean up/mulch season, then it's Conspiracy Theories, Swindled, Deep Cuts.  Getting into Summer Wood Splitting season, I'll start grinding on FF and mock drafts.

If wife/kids are out with me, I'll crank some tunes, usually a summer mix of pop/country.

These days I mostly listen to pods.  If I do music, I'll usually listen to a Spotify mix for 90s rock/alt, like This is Tool Radio.  They mix in Tool, Rage, Alice, etc.  I like the violent music as I decapitate thousands of blades of grass.  :headbanger:
