I will likely watch Oppenheimer this weekend, as the whole WW2/nuclear race/all of that really kind of intrigues me and how it came about. Barbie, I will likely never see. I have no interest in it at all. Zero.

wiffleball 4,763 Posted March 13, 2024 So, I've seen about 10 minutes of Barbie. It's on cable this month. What a fetid piece of simplistic crap. Gee, who would have guessed that Barbie is going to go through an existential crisis? Who would have thought that the men were going to be represented as vain, dimwitted, mansplainers. Now, that alone wouldn't bother me. Women and girls need that stupid s*** as much as we need fast and furious movies. (?) But, for f*** sake, this thing should have been straight to cable or maybe betamax. There is no reason whatsoever that it should be mentioned in Oscar's talk. Maybe for song? I don't know. But really, that's all it is. Just overused worn out tropes in succession. Sure as hell shouldn't be mentioned in even the same week as oppenheimer. Not sure why Margot Robbie wanted to do this. wiffleball 4,763 Posted March 13, 2024 While I'm talking about movies. I see where another 400 lb butt ugly black woman won an oscar in a movie no one saw. I think we should officially name that the Precious award. Because pretty much if you're a 400 lb fat black woman, you're a shoe in for an oscar.

MDC 6,822 Posted March 13, 2024 Unpopular take here, but every Chris Nolan movie I’ve seen has been a pretentious convoluted mess and twice as long as it needed to be. The bombastic Hans Zimmer scores aren’t doing him any favors either.

Going to have to tighten them up if he wants to take the next step

I did like Inception. Not without its flaws, but I think he pulled that one off. Fan of memento from back in the day as well. Prestige was pretty good too, but not as good as his current fandom would justify. Dunkirk was good but I’m not that into war movies generally.
posty 2,509 Posted July 25, 2024 Just finished watching this…. Took me two days to get through it…. The scenes that dealt with the bombs were cool, but the back story was blah IMO…. Though mostly true back story it felt like the back story of Titanic to me…. Could have cut about half of it in both cases…. It was decent but I am glad I didn’t see this in a theater…

Nolan tried but, yeah, it wasn’t epic or anything
