ESPN's Stephen A. Smith says Joe Biden should not be re-elected in 2024: 'We need a new president'

.....ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is calling on Democrats to present a better candidate for the 2024 presidential election, arguing that President Joe Biden, at 80 years old, should not be re-elected. ...During Friday’s episode of "The Stephen A. Smith Show," the ESPN host reflected on Biden’s fall during the Air Force Academy's commencement ceremony on Thursday when he tripped over a sandbag. ..."It’s just my personal opinion, that’s all it is. Take it for what it’s worth. Somebody’s gotta say it, so I’m going to say it. We need a new president in 2024. We need a new president," Smith said.....

"Let me be very, very clear about where I’m going with this .... But he is 80. He’ll be 81 by the end of his term, approaching 82.....Without trying to engage in any kind of ageism at all......There does come a point in time where there are certain jobs you don’t need..... but there are responsibilities that are far, far, far more extensive than a typical 9 to 5 that somebody in their 80s may not need to be doing. I think the presidency is one of em......But here’s one of my biggest reasons –.....What does it say about our country where we’re looking at an 80-year-old, who will be 82 if he wins the presidency again in 2024? What does it say about our country if that’s what we’re depending on?"

Smith went on to dismiss a number of leading candidates for the Democratic Party, including Marianne Williamson, who previously ran for the Democratic nomination in 2020, and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. ....."I mean, to the Democrats, y’all ain’t got nobody? Nobody?!"

2 Truths and 31 Lies Joe Biden Has Told About His Work in the Civil Rights Movement

...Since the early 1970s, (now Presidential candidate) Joe Biden has (always) been a serial liar when it comes to his "work" in the (American) Civil Rights Movement. It's the (same) equivalent of stolen valor and is fundamentally disqualifying ( for POTUS). (Joe Biden in January of 2014 for the National Action Network), said that he was regularly trained for the Civil Rights Movement in 1960 on Sunday mornings in Black churches (and was) involved in desegregating movie theaters and helping....( organizing) voter registration drives.

( On February 26th, 1987 Joe Biden began giving public speeches in New Hampshire as he prepared to run for President.) He said, “When I marched in the Civil Rights movement, I did not march with a 12-point program, I marched with tens of thousands of others ( in protest) to change attitudes, and we (certainly) changed attitudes.”

(Matt Flegenheimer of The New York Times .... conducted over 1,000 interviews for a book on civil rights), It discusses... Biden’s staffers (openly) talking about how (very) desperately they wanted (candidate) Biden to stop telling the (same easily debunkable) lies about working in the Civil Rights Movement.

(In 1983 Joe Biden was a keynote speaker at the Democratic Conference in Maine and (also) falsely claimed there to participate (with others)  in sit-ins at movie theaters and restaurants to desegregate them when he was (just) 17 years old in 1960) But sit-ins at segregated restaurants did not (actually) begin in Delaware until 1961 and (these) sit-ins never happened at the segregated movie theaters. (On December 26th, 1982 in a story about the history of the Charcoal Pit in the Sunday News Journal in Wilmington.) Biden said,

I (personally) organized a civil rights boycott because they wouldn’t serve black kids ( at the restaurant). One of our football players (Hutchins) was black and (when) we went there and ( the staff) said they wouldn’t serve him. And I (then) said to the others (with me), ‘Hey, we (all) can’t go in there.’ So we all left.... My clear intent was to boycott.” The lone black student in the class, (now Dr.) Francis Hutchins, said that wasn’t what happened at all.

Remarks by the President and the Vice President at a Memorial Service for Senator Robert C. Byrd

Office of the Press Secretary  Charleston, West Virginia 1:09 P.M. EDT

In 2010, he warmly eulogized Sen. Robert Byrd, a former Exalted Cyclops in the Ku Klux Klan, saying he was “one of my mentors” and that “the Senate is a lesser place for his going.”  In 1944, James Eastland (openly) claimed the "Negro race" was an inferior race... and like most ( to many )of his Southern colleagues ( in Congress), opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964...Eastland, along with (complicit) senators Robert Byrd, John McClellan, Olin D. Johnston, Sam Ervin, and Strom Thurmond, made (several) unsuccessful attempts to block confirmation of Thurgood Marshall to (both) the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Most of us don't give a flying fuk what Stephan A Smith says about sports, which is his area of "expertise." Why in the hell would we care about his political thoughts? He's just like many right wing media talking heads, he just shouts until we submit to the lunacy or tune out completely.

The Byrd stuff is so stupid and played out. Dude had a huge change of heart and wound up being a huge advocate for civil rights.

And since when do the MAGAmooks care about lying presidents? Sorry, but y'all don't have a leg to stand on there. I have more of a right to be upset by Biden's lies, since I called out Trump for it. Your lot just defend Trump at all costs, then attack democrats for doing 10% of what Trump did. Your opinions here are meaningless.

No, I just don't GAF what he thinks about politics. Or anything else. He's a dooshbag who likes to shout opinions to stir the pot. I don't trust anything he says because I don't think that he believes much of what he says. He gets paid for engagement; he says whatever it takes to get it, good or bad, right or wrong. He just wants to keep the paychecks coming.

Did Joe Biden Say He Didn't Want His Kids Growing Up in a 'Racial Jungle'?

Claim: Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden once said he didn't want his kids to grow up in a "racial jungle" in regards to desegregation.
Rating: Correct Attribution

In the 1970s, then-Sen. Joe Biden was a vocal opponent of busing as a means for desegregating public schools....In early March 2020, readers asked Snopes to verify a quote in 1977 in which Biden, then a U.S. senator representing Delaware, allegedly expressed fear that desegregation.... could result in his children growing up in "a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point."

The quote was initially uncovered by Daria Roithmayr, a law professor at the University of Southern California (USC), in July 2019......The quote is accurate as reported and reads in full: "Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point. We have got to make some move on this."

.....Biden made the remark in 1977 during a hearing about busing school children in order to desegregate public schools. As The New York Times reported in a detailed delineation of Biden's history with busing, Biden at the time had emerged as the Democratic party's crusader against busing, taking the same side as segregationists. Biden "joined up with Jesse Helms, the segregationist senator from North Carolina, to offer his own anti-busing amendment to that year’s education spending bill." Biden's "advocacy made it safe for other Democrats to oppose busing," The Times reported.....The Times further reported that Biden sided with Helms in 1975 when the latter proposed to strip the federal government's power to withhold funding from school districts that refused to comply with racial-equality measures: Under the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964, the federal Department of Health, Education and Welfare had a powerful tool to fight school segregation: It could withhold funding from districts that refused to integrate — and integration effectively meant busing. Mr. Helms wanted to strip the agency of that power.

.....As Mr. Biden rose on the Senate floor in September 1975 to embrace that approach, Mr. Helms wryly welcomed him “to the ranks of the enlightened.” Mr. Biden objected to the education department mandating desegregation absent a court order, and warned of white flight to the suburbs and even racial unrest. ... Mr. Helms’s amendment, which would have also barred the education department from collecting data about the race of students or teachers, failed.....

Because Biden made the remark about a "racial jungle," we rate this claim as a "Correct Attribution."

Biden’s ties to segregationist senator spark campaign tension

....Joe Biden has described his relationship with Sen. James Eastland, a well-known segregationist, as one he "had to put up with." But letters between the two men show a different kind of relationship.....Joe Biden was a freshman senator, the youngest member ... when he reached out to an older colleague for help on one of his early legislative proposals: The courts were ordering racially segregated school districts to bus children to create more integrated classrooms, a practice Biden opposed and wanted to change...

"I want you to know that I very much appreciate your help during this week's Committee meeting in attempting to bring my antibusing legislation to a vote," Biden wrote on June 30, 1977....The recipient of Biden's entreaty was Sen. James Eastland, at the time a well-known segregationist who had called blacks "an inferior race" and once vowed to prevent blacks and whites from eating together in Washington. The exchange, revealed in a series of letters, offers a new glimpse into an old relationship that erupted this week as a major controversy for Biden's presidential campaign....

....The controversy over Biden's comments this week have continued to reverberate at a crucial time in the campaign, with matters of race dominating the political discussion ahead of several prominent gatherings, including the first presidential debate next week and a multicandidate event before black voters in South Carolina on Friday. It has emerged as a complex political problem for Biden, who has been trying to campaign as a civil rights champion.....Divisions also emerged in Biden's campaign over how he should handle such situations. Aides alternately argued that he simply misspoke in telling the anecdote, that he shouldn't be telling it at all or that his remarks demonstrate his ability to work with those with whom he disagrees and the words were being purposefully twisted for political gain....

....The letters show that Biden's courtship of Eastland started in 1972, before he had taken office, and that he wrote to the older senator listing his top six committee assignment requests, with Foreign Relations and Judiciary at the top. A few weeks later, Biden thanked Eastland, writing that he was "flattered and grateful" for his help. ...In one letter, on March 2, 1977, Biden outlined legislation he was filing to restrict busing practices....."My bill strikes at the heart of the injustice of court ordered busing," he wrote to Eastland. "It prohibits the federal courts from disrupting our educational system in the name of the constitution.....I believe there is growing sentiment in the Congress to curb unnecessary busing," he added. The Senate two years earlier had passed a Biden amendment that prohibited the federal Department of Health, Education and Welfare from ordering busing to achieve school integration...."That was the first time the U.S. Senate took a firm stand in opposition to busing," Biden wrote. "

...In demanding an apology, Booker said Wednesday that Biden's "relationships with proud segregationists are not the model for how we make America a safer and more inclusive place for black people, and for everyone."...Asked about Booker's remarks by reporters, Biden declined to offer an apology and instead demanded one from Booker....

*****

During the 2020 primaries, Biden tried to downplay his relationship with known racist James Eastland.

He kept licking Eastland's boots because he was brand new to Congress and needed allies to survive politically. So he opposed busing and claimed opposing busing was not racist at all. When discussing modern political strategy to handle it, his own campaign staff told him to say "he misspoke" when referring to the obvious lies Biden told about being a Civil Rights advocate and hope no one would fact check it until it was too late. Point to note, this means his staff told him he was better off just lying about lying and likely hoping there were enough low information voters out there to not hurt him too badly during the election.

When Cory Booker, a black man, said Biden should apologize in public, how did Biden respond? By demanding Booker apologize instead.

You see Stephen A Smith is so careful in how he criticizes Biden in public. He's denouncing him, but ever so carefully.

So the current political Party where everything is racist and everyone needs to be cancelled for perceived racism is being headed by a legacy old white grifter, shown again and again as a pure pathological liar, who is currently the one active elected official right now in modern professional American politics who has done the most to harm the actual African American community at large.  When challenged, he has the repugnant gall to gaslight a black man in public and demand an apology instead of actually repenting for his actions.

Everyone else must be run over the coals in purity test after purist test over racism in modern America. But somehow Joe Biden gets a free pass. Even from Stephen A Smith.

"We must take back the streets. It doesn’t matter whether or not the person that is accosting your son or daughter, or my son or daughter, my wife, your husband, my mother, your parents — it doesn’t matter whether or not they were deprived as a youth. It doesn’t matter or not — whether or not they had no background that enabled them to have — to become social — become socialized into the fabric of society. It doesn’t matter whether or not they’re the victims of society. The end result is, they’re about to knock my mother on the head with a lead pipe, shoot my sister, beat up my wife, take on my sons. So, I don’t want to ask, “What made them do this?” They must be taken off the street. That’s number one."   - Joe Biden

‘Lock the S.O.B.s Up’: Joe Biden and the Era of Mass Incarceration

....He now plays down his role overhauling crime laws with segregationist senators in the ’80s and ’90s. That portrayal today is at odds with his actions and rhetoric back then....In September 1994, as President Bill Clinton signed the new Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act in an elaborately choreographed ceremony on the south lawn of the White House, Joseph R. Biden Jr. sat directly behind the president’s lectern, flashing his trademark grin....“The truth is,” Mr. Biden had boasted a year earlier in a speech on the Senate floor, “every major crime bill since 1976 that’s come out of this Congress, every minor crime bill, has had the name of the Democratic senator from the State of Delaware: Joe Biden.”

....While Mr. Biden has said in recent days that he and Mr. Eastland “didn’t agree on much of anything,” it is clear that on a number of important criminal justice issues, they did....But perhaps even more consequential was Mr. Biden’s relationship with Mr. Thurmond, who became his co-author on a string of bills that effectively rewrote the nation’s criminal justice laws with an eye toward putting more criminals behind bars....In 1989, with the violent crime rate continuing to rise as it had since the 1970s, Mr. Biden lamented that the Republican president, George H. W. Bush, was not doing enough to put “violent thugs” in prison.....

Stephen A Smith is an employee of ESPN. Which means he's an employee of Disney. Albeit a high profile employee.

But since he can't lean too hard away from corporate interests ( The Big Mouse clearly leans hard left in their ideology, you see that in how they truly screwed up the Star Wars properties with identity politics and how badly the Marvel Universe has become woke)

But there isn't a bigger open legacy racist in current high level American politics other than Joe Biden. Presiding over an administration that demands "social justice" for Black America ( never mind Asian Americans and Hispanic/Latinos and other minorities, they obviously don't count to the DNC)

You have celebrity black American voices tip toe dancing around criticizing the utter indefensible legacy of racism that comes with Joe Biden. Consider how insulting that is to all Americans in the country right now. Biden's a racist, gaslighting every Republican in the country by accusing them of being white supremacists, and many blacks on the left clap and go along with it.

Stephen A Smith has a point, and he's avoiding many things here, but he's also a pure sell out. He always claims to "tell it like it is" but clearly not here. Because if he did, even with his huge platform, The Big Mouse would fire him.

League Champion, on an aside, good to have you back. This place has missed you. I've been doing a lot of heavy lifting in starting thread topics while you were gone. But now that you are back, it will be good to have your input in that area and there as well.

Biden: ‘Unlike the African American Community,’ The Latino Community Is ‘Diverse’

“Unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things,” Biden told NPR’s Lulu Garcia-Navarro.....Biden was responding to a question on whether he would slow deportations of Cuban asylum seekers.

President Trump slammed Biden’s remarks after watching footage of the interview. “Joe Biden this morning totally disparaged and insulted the black community,” Trump told reporters. “I don’t know what’s going on with him but it was a very insulting statement he made.”

....During the same interview on Tuesday, Biden was asked by an African American journalist if he had taken a cognitive test.....“Come on, man! That’s like saying you . . . before you got in this program, you’re take... a test whether you’re taking cocaine or not. What do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?” Biden responded.

As much as I agree with him on this subject....Stephen A Smiff should keep his nose out of politics.

Buuuuut....that's where many ultimately want to end up. It's a career path.

Actors, pro-sports athletes, talk show, big tech founders, tv  hosts all end up beating their political chest---and sadly, they are given a platform for it and their opinion is much greater than yours or mine.

F*ck Smith, celebrities.  They are essentially worthless pawns in society that are propped up by those folks who idolize celebrities.  "Oh....look....they were on tv! I love them!" They provide 0 intrinsic value.   If celebs disappeared tonight at midnight, the world would be none the worse.  If potato and wheat and soybean and corn farmers and cattle ranchers disappeared, we'd be focked. Yettttt....certain portions of society hold celebs at a high status.  But those folks that do that, are also lesser quality humans.

And we know which group idolizes them.

Biden wrote college recommendation letter for son of Hunter's Chinese business partner, emails reveal

....President Biden, in 2017, wrote a college recommendation letter for the son of a Chinese executive who did business with Hunter Biden, according to emails reviewed by Fox News Digital. The president has repeatedly denied discussing Hunter's business ventures with his son.....emails between Hunter Biden and his business associates involved in his firm Rosemont Seneca’s joint venture with Chinese investment firms Bohai Capital and BHR....

....Hunter held a 10% stake in BHR as recently as last year, the White House previously acknowledged. In an email dated Jan. 3, 2017, and sent to Hunter Biden and his business associates Devon Archer and Jim Bulger, CEO of BHR Jonathan Li writes:  "Gentlmen, please find the attached resume of my son, Chris Li. He is applying the following colleges for this year," Li writes, listing Brown University, Cornell University, and New York University.

Hunter's associate, James Bulger, cc'ing Hunter and Archer, replies saying they have "received the updated version of the CV."..."Lets see how we can be helpful here to Chris," Bulger writes.....Several weeks later, on Feb. 18, 2017, Eric Schwerin, who served as president of Rosemont Seneca, replied to Li....."Jonathan, Hunter asked me to send you a copy of the recommendation letter that he asked his father to write on behalf of Christopher for Brown University...The original is being FedExed to Dr. Paxson directly at Brown.....It should be there by Tuesday at the latest (given Monday is a holiday here in the U.S.). Let us know if you have any questions. Best, Eric."

Dr. Christina Paxson is the president of Brown University.....The emails originated from a laptop said to belong to Hunter Biden....When asked about the contents of the emails, White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told Fox News Digital: "We don't comment on the laptop."

....The federal investigation into Hunter Biden was predicated, in part, by Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) regarding suspicious foreign transactions.....Another source familiar with the investigation told Fox News in December 2020 that the SARs were regarding funds from "China and other foreign nations."....A Treasury Department official, who did not comment on the investigation, spoke broadly about SARs, telling Fox News that SARs are filed by financial institutions "if there is something out of the ordinary about a particular transaction."

Biden’s six favorite lies about inflation and the economy

Here are six of the most economically consequential deceptions of the Biden administration.

Nobody making under four hundred thousand bucks will have their taxes raised. Period.

This one was reminiscent of the infamous George H.W. Bush claim in 1988 “read my lips: no new taxes.” Biden didn’t say he wouldn’t raise taxes on the middle class once or twice, but routinely throughout the campaign — and he even STILL says it. Except that inflation is a tax that hits the middle class and the poor hardest and over the past year, prices have outpaced wages and salaries by roughly four percentage points. With the average worker wage and salary at roughly $60,000 per year (that’s a lot less than $400,000) this means a $2,400 per worker Biden inflation tax and as much as double that for families with husband and wife both working.

Inflation is worse everywhere but here.

Biden claimed this most recently in a speech in Philadelphia as an excuse for high inflation here at home. It is hogwash. Inflation is lower in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and many other countries.

The economy had stalled when I entered office.

The reality is that Biden was bequeathed an economy with robust growth coming out of the pandemic. In the second half of 2020, the economy grew more than $1.5 trillion at an annualized rate. The growth rate for the second half of 2020 even with COVID was almost 15 percent....Moreover, when Biden entered office, the economy was prepped for an enormous tail winds gust because of the Trump “operation warp speed” vaccine that was just hitting the market and allowing businesses to reopen and workers to return to the job.

I am responsible for the strongest job creation economy in modern times.

This is more an exaggeration than a bold-faced lie.  On jobs, we will give the president his due. This has been an impressive hiring spree over the past 14 months and the jobs are out there for those who want them. But this is NOT the strongest period for job creation. That hiring record was set in 2020 under Trump who presided over the initial recovery following the government-imposed lockdowns. Job growth under Trump from May 2020 to Jan 2021 averaged 1.4 million jobs per month, for a total of 12.5 million people returning to work. But under Biden, average job growth per month has been cut by more than half, down to 542,000 with 8.7 million people returning to work. That means Biden has added 31 percent fewer jobs in 16 months than Trump did in nine.

Since I took office, families are carrying less debt, their average savings are up.

This is a strange and oft-repeated White House claim. The amount families are able to save each month has utterly collapsed, falling 74 percent since Biden took office, while the personal savings rate has plummeted from 19.9 percent to just 5.4 percent. Likewise, the claim about declining debt is equally untrue. Household debt has risen by $1.29 trillion in just the first 15 months of Biden’s presidency. Credit card debt, which decreased over $100 billion during the pandemic, is now exploding at the fastest rates on record as families run out of savings and fall into debt. Put simply, they cannot afford to live in Biden’s America. Biden also ignores a stock market selloff that has evaporated some $10 trillion of Americans’ wealth and savings.  This is one of the greatest periods of savings disappearing.

I’m doing everything I can to lower gas prices.

We wonder if ANYONE actually believes this claim. The folks at Institute for Energy Research have identified 100 separate Biden executive orders, regulations, and laws that have impeded oil and gas production and raised prices at the pump. These range from killing pipelines, to expanding EPA regulations on oil and gas drilling and refining, to taking hundreds of thousands of acres of prime oil and gas lands on public lands and in areas like the Gulf of Mexico off-limits for drilling. Economist Casey Mulligan of the University of Chicago estimates that these policies have reduced oil and gas drilling by 2 to 3 million barrels a day. That increased production would bring gas prices down at the pump.

It is to the point now that Biden is just too old.  No way can he be any better starting a new term in two years at 82, only worse.

That’s like saying you . . . before you got in this program, you’re take .... a test whether you’re taking cocaine or not. What do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?” Biden responded...

....Biden apologized in May after saying in an interview that African Americans who vote for Trump aren’t black....“If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black,” Biden told radio DJ Charlamagne tha God on an episode of The Breakfast Club....

Meh. This won't cost Biden any black votes.

NBC Poll Spells Doom for Joe Biden - One Major Roadblock Is Standing in His Way

....A new poll found that Americans are struggling to describe President Joe Biden as either cognizant or functional.....The fact that this poll was conducted by NBC, a generally more left-leaning network compared to Fox News, should provide extra consternation for Biden and his team — especially in the midst of a polarizing re-election bid. On Sunday’s episode of NBC’s “Meet the Press” — hosted by Chuck Todd — Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar was a guest and there to discuss a litany of topics. “We have a new poll out and we asked various questions having to do with President Biden and his ability to do the job [of president],” Todd told Klobuchar on Sunday. “Uh, does [Biden] have the mental and physical health to serve?” Todd asked....

“The concern among Democrats has doubled since October 2020,” Todd flatly said. “It was only one-in-five Democrats who had that concern before Election Day 2020....It’s now over 40 percent. It’s at 43 percent. You were just with the president at the state dinner. Do you have concerns?”

“No, I don’t,” Klobuchar said. “We all saw his power at the State of the Union. Our party is united behind him. Why? Because we work in a results-oriented business, Chuck. And he has gotten results.”

.....But should he be a two-term president, the numbers speak for themselves. The incumbent president is already 80, meaning that by the time the 2024 general election rolls around, he will be 82. If he were to finish his second term, he would be leaving the White House as an 86-year-old....

Government Job Handed To Hunter Biden’s Art Buyer Is Notorious For Corruption, Foreign Influence-Peddling

....The wealthy Democrat donor who paid Hunter Biden for a piece of his hyper-expensive artwork was appointed to a federal commission known for years for corruption, secrecy, and as a vehicle to advance the financial interests of its members.....Elizabeth Hirsch Naftali, who has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democrat politicians over the years, was appointed by President Joe Biden to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad. The commission post is one Hunter knows well — it’s the same position President Barack Obama handed to Hunter’s business partner Eric Schwerin in 2015.....

......The reason Hunter’s associates gravitate to the notoriously corrupt commission may have to do with the lack of attention paid to it—it’s the sort of government agency where a director could pocket a six-figure government salary while building lucrative foreign relationships. Schwerin suggested to Hunter after Obama was elected that the commission could be beneficial for leverage with foreign governments, according to emails on Hunter’s abandoned laptop.....At the time Schwerin was put on the commission, its executive director, Jeffrey Farrow, was earning $143,000 a year for working what amounted to a one-day-a-week job. In 2013, the agency’s only full-time employee, Katarina Ryan, filed a complaint with government investigators saying Farrow didn’t even work one day a week. Instead, Ryan said, Farrow spent 90% of his time running a for-profit international lobbying firm out of the government office. His lobbying practice brought in up to $750,000 a year, according to lobbying disclosures.....“This is a classic example of using a public office for private gain,” she wrote in a whistleblower complaint, “but what makes it particularly reckless is to have the Federal government subsidize expenses for a lobbyist.....”

.....The final inspector general report was hidden from the public until Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) requested it as part of a Senate Homeland Security investigation into the commission. Even then, the commission’s chairwoman, Leslie Weiss, called the GSA “seeking advice on how to withhold the report from the committee.” Johnson received the report only by going directly to the GSA, he said in a 2015 letter to the commission.....The inspector general found that people associated with the obscure government agency used it as a personal piggy bank and routinely falsified paperwork. “Invoices were designed to consume the maximum amount of taxpayer dollars that could be allocated.....”....To sidestep federal rules, it designated Farrow and other employees as contractors, even though they were acting as employees and signing contracts on behalf of the agency, which is illegal, the inspector general found. The commission also hired other contractors from a company run by Farrow’s cousin....

......Though the exact timing of the art buy is not known, Naftali was appointed to the federal post in July 2022, eight months after Hunter’s first art opening, Business Insider reported. Hunter’s artwork sells for as much as $500,000, and while the Biden administration had claimed that only the art gallery would know who purchased it — the Business Insider report says Hunter learned the identity of at least two of the buyers....Naftali has contributed large sums of money to Biden and his allies in recent years. Just last year, she hosted a fundraiser that was headlined by Vice President Kamala Harris. She has visited the Biden White House more than a dozen times, most recently in March of this year, according to official visitor logs....

Locals lash out against Biden’s visit to Maui after deadly wildfires: ‘I don’t want him here’

.... Hawaiian residents are saying they don’t want Joe Biden to visit them on Monday as the president continues to face backlash this week for appearing aloof following the state’s largest natural disaster.....“I don’t want him here,” Jay Awan, of Lahaina, told The Post Wednesday. “He’s just coming to Maui to look good in front of the cameras.”.....Awan, 45, a cook and tiki carver, said nothing would be gained from the 80-year-old president’s visit, as his town, a once-popular resort area, has been “burned to the ground.”....He noted that even after reconstruction, which officials estimated would cost around $6 billion, the beloved island would never return to its former glory.....“It’s like a f–king warzone here,” he said of the devastation. “Maui’s never going to be the same. Lahaina’s never going to be the same.....”

.....Peter Friedgen, another Lahaina resident, agreed with the sentiment, adding that he “don’t care if the president comes.”....The 66-year-old guitarist said he lost everything in the fire except for his instrument, which he strum while waiting on the outskirts of the charred city for officials to come....“It’s a waiting game now for someone to show up — the government, insurers,” he said. “I’ve just been down the beach, waiting for people to get into town.”....“We haven’t had federal support,” Bowman said. “We’ve had local support, not federal.”....Bowman slammed FEMA for its strict bureaucracy that was causing tension on the island, with the accountant seeing a recent claim filed on behalf of clients who lost their home get immediately rejected.....“I filed an application for somebody for disaster funding and it already got denied, saying they didn’t have proof from the insurance company over how much their losses were — but there’s no possible way to get that information right now.” ....She also scoffed at reports that Biden promised to deliver $700 one-time relief grants per household to those impacted by the fires....
