Their pitching was a bit suspect and when it came down to it they fell flat, but a World Series run is something that the majority of fans didn't realize this year. You could really find flaws in just about any team this year, but I think the Guardians, Tigers, Royals and Orioles all should be proud of what they accomplished this year, rather than thumb their noses and feel they were only successful because other teams sucked. And Wacha nearly doubles his career earnings while staying in a place he thrived last year. Kansas City is already out and spending, as it did last winter, when the Royals turned from a 56-win mess into an 86-win playoff team. Wacha's deal with the Royals will pay him $18 million in 2025, $18 million in 2026 and $14 million in 2027, plus $4 million in easily reachable incentives. The club option, which is for $14 million and includes a $1 million buyout, also includes the same incentives. Wacha was likely to receive a qualifying offer from Kansas City, which would have dampened his FA market.
