This process is so strange.  Mumble rappers like Jay-Z are in but Jimmy Buffett wasn’t.

Both HoF’ers

Jay Z first ballot. Jimmy B should be in.

It's a travesty that more punk bands aren't in. They changed the musical landscape forever and influenced a zillion bands, many of which are in the Hall.

Among the list of who isn't in and not repeating some of the what others have already said; I'm shocked these three are on the outside looking in.

Some of those bands lyrics might be a bit problematic in 2024. Rap is cool though.

This all day long. Glad the MC5 are in now, sorta punk-adjacent. That brings it to what, 4 punk acts? Ramones, Green Day, Sex Pistols, MC5?

I guess Blondie, Talking Heads, the Clash, Stooges, and Velvet Underground are punk-ish. Iggy Pop definitely deserves a spot as a solo act.

X, the Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, NOFX, Bad Brains are all no-brainers (puns are fun, and intended!) Iron Maiden and Motorhead are absurd omissions and I'm sorry, Frampton is a focking joke. One big live album that was ridiculously overrated and even more overplayed. How to tell the R&R HOF is run by old, out of touch music industry veterans and insiders without being told.

Not even close to "Punk" at least as I remember "Punk"
My days it was Sex Pistols, DK, DRI, Minor Threat, The Vandals, The Subhumans, The Di(s), Ramones, Misfits, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Toy Dolls, and many others of that ilk.

GET OFF MY LAWN !@# (I guess)

I'm shocked that it's not a flag flying right next to the rainbow one at every gay rights rally.

Their early, pre-Dookie stuff was much closer to raw punk than their output since. I loved them in the period right before they broke big, but can't listen to them anymore. Plus, they ripped off the riff from American Idiot from a band I hold in much higher regard, so F them.

Again...any idiot that would vote in DIO, but not Peter Frampton is a moron.  Period.

Frampton had three hit songs off one hit live album. All of his studio albums are lame and boring, and he in no way influenced rock music other than popularize that off voice guitar sound effect. That's awl roight!

That is not a qualification for being in the R&RHOF, nor should it be IMO. The songs were those he found worked better live which is how they came to be on the "Frampton Comes Alive" LP and were part of the fabric of Pop Music in the mid-late 70s.
