Percentage of Draft Budget to RB position

Recommended Posts

to be clear,   the only reason to keep McCaffrey is if you think you can win it all this year.

if you cant,  a trade is likely in your best interest.    I dont think CMC has a lot of staying power.   hes at the top of his game now, but I'd be surprised if he can stay at the top more than 1 more year.   Hes pretty fragile, and a guy like that who takes up that much of your budget is kind of a dangerous player to keep on the roster.

that said, if you think you have a championship roster, you swing for the fences and see what comes of it.  hopefully he stays healthy for you.

I was offered Chase Brown RB from Bengals at $1  for McCaffrey at $37.    If I'I choose to not keep mccaffrey, would you take a flier on Chase Brown?  Seems to be getting some hype in the battle between him and zak moss for RB1 on cincy

if you choose not to keep him I suppose its an option.  its not a great offer though.   I do realize at $37 thats a lot of dough to fork out for one player but Chase Brown from the looks of it isnt even guaranteed to be the starter at this point.   if that comes to pass, youre giving up CMC for a dollar.  I suppose its better than nothing but at that price I'd shop around to see if you can do better.   in any draft there is usually one or two guys willing to pay top dollar for CMC.   so unless your keeper deadline is tomorrow there is no reason to go jumping at a deal like this.

Thanks I need to make a decision by end of next week. Been shopping cmc around and no one wants that $37 price tag except for this one owner. He has ty chandler and chase brown as his only potential keepers and they are basically lottery tickets. He has said he will pay whatever it costs to get cmc in draft as can turn cmc into tradeable assets later.

So if I want to get any asset back for cmc, looks like chase briwn is currently best option

its also possible that CMC becomes a more valuable asset once the keepers are declared.    at that point I assume auction dollars dont matter anymore and then you can get whatever you want/need.

unless there are cap rules associated with this but usually in my experience its just keeper dollars.  once player is kept its a free for all.

In our league,  you have to be at or under the $100 budget after the keeper deadline with the ability to construct a valid roster at the end of the draft.   For example if my keepers all add up to $95 but have 8 spots to fill in draft, I wouldn't be able to complete a valid roster.   So basically if i keep CMC,  J Waddle, D london, or Jacobs, would become collateral damage.

After the draft, there is no budget limitations at all.

exactly my point.   but then there is the risk of keeping CMC.   but after the draft the trade market would be (presumably)  a lot more robust.

the offer you just got is..... rather uninspiring.  maybe thats the path unless you really wanna cut bait on him

Well now with CMC out the preseason with a calf injury,  keeping him for $37 becomes more risky.

no question about it.    though it does look like he will be back before week 1 so it might be a nothing burger.    hard to say for sure.   if buying shares of him, you wanna keep an eye on his status.

  • Goff - $4
  • Jacobs - $13
  • Gus Edwards - $7
  • Singletary - $3
  • AJ Brown - $17
  • Drake London - $15
  • Waddle - $14

I changed my mind. I think $37 is too much for McCaffrey and I would dump him.

Yeah I’m leaning towards dumping him. If that’s the case would you trade him for chase brown at $1.  His stock seems to be on the rise.

also leaning on dropping Edwards at $7 see who I can draft.

I think so. Yea, I agree with you on doing both of those things. I mean, I've never seen Chase Brown play so can't really say for sure, but it looks like he could have an opportunity,

I traded CMC for Chase Brown before the deadline and dropped Goff ($4) and G Edwards ($7).  This now leaves me with $35 to draft (with $1 K and $1 DEF).

QB -
RB - Josh Jacobs ($13)
RB - Devin Singletary ($3)
WR - AJ Brown ($17)
WR - Drake London ($15)
WR - J Waddle ($14)
TE
K - $1
D - $1
BE - Chase Brown ($1)
BE x7

  • Only QBs kept were Hurts, Love, A Richardson and Stroud
  • Best RBs avaiable:  Mixon, A Jones, Najee Harris, D Swift, Brian Robinson Jr , Pollard, Chubb, Ekeler
  • Best WRs available:  Harrison JR, Devonta Smith, Cooper, DJ Moore, Diggs, Godwin, Nabers, Kirk, Hopkins, Allen
  • Best TE's available: Kelce, Engram, McBride, Njoku, Kittle, Ferguson, Pitts, Bowers

What would your strategy going into the draft be with the budget remaining?

wow, juicy.

at QB, there are a lot of people who will be buying rookies.  I've no doubt of that.

You could probably buy a tandem of Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins for a fraction of what some will pay for those rookies.   they are both going late late late, and there is nothing wrong with either of these guys.

I like Mixon and to some extent Naj now that warren is hurt. and these guys you will get at bargain prices.

at TE its deeper than we have seen in years.  Kittle is actually going cheap, and if  Aiyuk leaves San fran he will get all the volume he can handle.

at WR, hopkins, cooper are both going cheaper than they should.   I also think Hollywood brown is well priced relative to what he will probably deliver.

you can go cheap on all of these guys and then open the bank vault on one or two rookies you love.   you will do well this year while also setting yourself up for next year.   and if one of those rookies breaks out early you can consider it a nice bonus.
