seafoam1 2,794 Posted August 9, 2024 Just finished it a couple days ago. Loved the series. But to have left it open in the end after 8 seasons was kinda stupid. Why couldn't they just have a semi happy ending where he goes to Argentina and lives out his life with Hanna and his kid, OR, just have him killing himself at the end after he dumps his sister and let it just be dark and tragic... and final? bostonlager 2,664 Posted August 9, 2024 They made a sequel/season 9 that came out a couple years ago. It ties up all the loose ends.

I thought I saw there was a sequal that just came out now focusing on the kid. I'll have to look for 9.
seafoam1 2,794 Posted August 9, 2024 The brother/sister relationship really made that show compelling. I don't think it could have existed long without it.

Started white collar I binged Dexter over the last couple months. I had heard a lot of negative takes on it past the John Lithgow season. There was a couple slow starts after that but it always finished strong each season.

That was the worst ending of any series I've ever seen. This is how I would have ended it: He fakes his death and then joins his happy little family in South America. They live their happy little lives, and maybe he kills a couple of bad hombres here and there to feed his need. One day, he comes home to find that his son has killed their new puppy. The son is confused and crying, in disbelief of what he'd just done. Dexter at first is horrified, but then he realizes that his son is just like him, and he's going to have to teach him The Code. He becomes proud and flashes that little grin that he does in the show opening. While they tied up loose ends in the new series, it still was unsatisfying. I saw the first couple episodes of New Blood tonight. Not bad, but with that hair cut they make him look like a perfect mix between an old Brett Favre and Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber. I haven't seen the most recent seasons of You and The Bear. We kind of save stuff like that until we're in some kind of show hole, and right now between the Olympics and the presidential race, there is plenty of TV going on.
